This hotel, across the street from Tivoli and an easy walk to Storget and most other attractions in central Copenhagen, was designed (down to the door handles) by Arne Jacobsen, the prototypical designer of what is now called "Mid-Century Scandinavian." The hotel has preserved much of his design (even maintains room 606 as it was originally equipped and furnished) and has also done all the necessary upgrades to qualify as a 4 to 5 star modern hotel. The staff is exceedingly friendly and accomodating, the rooms quite comfortable and up-to-date (towel warmers and heated tile floors in the bathrooms) and the hotel is a fun place to stay in a great location.

We stayed at the Radisson Royal over a weekend in early October. Although we had booked online, we had a corner room on the 8th floor, which offered expansive views of the city.

The hotel is situated very centrally, just next to the train/metro station, across the street from Tivoli, and a few blocks from the busier end of Stroget, the pedestrian shopping street. Several convenience and grocery stores are within a block or two from the hotel, and lots of café and restaurant options are nearby, too. It's quite a bustling section of town, so if you are looking to stay in a quieter neighborhood, I suggest looking for something in Osterbro.

Overall, we had a great experience. The lobby and room were well-appointed with lots of 60s-era Scandinavian design elements (swan and egg chairs abounding, lots of form and function), without being too stiff. The room was compact, but compensated for its small size with adjacent walls lined with windows. The bathroom was nice (great shower, seemingly heated floors, and double sinks), and the bed was very cozy, with a big, plush comforter.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, though at check-out they seemed a bit understaffed in the reception area. And, when we needed to borrow an umbrella, a concierge told us that he had handed out 20 the day before, and none of them had been returned! You might take yours with you if are planning an autumn visit to Copenhagen.

The service was great from check-in to check out. The staff couldn't do enough to help. We went for the Royal Club Room and the view was excellent, looking over Tivoli Gardens. The bathroom was large and everything was kept clean. The hotel is close to the centre with a lot of places to eat close by. I would book again and again.

Travelling round Scandinavia I find it increasingly difficult to find a hotel which meets the mark, especially smaller hotels. The Radisson formular has got it right for me. High speed internet (although not wireless) business class room had it all. Stylish yet contemporary, comfortable and spacious. The service is of a high standard and the breakfast was just great...not sure of the 5 stars but better than most business hotels I have stayed in lately. Other reviews descibe location etc which is great, near the metro too....
