We booked a King Superior room for 3 nights in June 2012. GBP 193/night.
Clearly the Palace is something of an iconic place to stay since it's been a feature of the Copenhagen skyline since the early 1900s. I give the hotel quite a favourable rating as the rooms are extremely well appointed with delightfully modern bathrooms, comfortable beds and nice linens. It's very nicely located for the main train station which is a couple of blocks and 15-20m from the airport. The staff are quite pleasant and helpful - the barman in particular.
Even though it hasn't, my rating could have been coloured by a number of factors: particularly the fact that the immediate area around the hotel is an absolute mess - metro excavations and cobblestone relaying right along the front make the approach very difficult and unpleasant. The hotel admittedly does make mention of this on their website, albeit in a not especially prominent position. Trust me, it's not nice at all and you will inevitably have to confront it every time you go in and out.
Additionally, we had not been told on booking that our wonderful Superior King room (which we had specifically booked for its view across the square), would be blighted by a fearsomely loud Turkish concert right outside the window on the first two nights. Our hearts sank and, not wishing to face this acute disturbance, we were kindly offered a replacement room in a lower category at the rear of the hotel but with no rebate. We found this to be far quieter and were happy with the arrangement, but the hotel must surely have been aware that this concert was to take place since it involved a huge stage and thousands of spectators.
Also, the hotel ran an unannounced and persistent fire alarm test at around 9am on the Monday morning - a really disturbing way to be woken up and they should really rethink this. Why on earth it can't be done in the middle of the day when holidaymakers are unlikely to still be asleep, I do not know.
We did like the hotel a lot, but so much of the above detracted from our stay and the rating offered is perhaps a more accurate reflection of what our experience might have been, rather than what it was.
