Spent 3 nights at Hotel Imperial while in Copenhagen on business. This was my third trip to Copenhagen and have stayed in the past at Hotel Skt. Petri but decided to try a new hotel.
We arrived at the hotel and were met by nobody. No bellman to help with luggage and had to make 2 trips into lobby to carry in our own luggage. Staff at front desk were cold and did not offer any information about the hotel like they usually do upon check in.
Again, no bellman to help us with our luggage on the way to our room. Room itself was standard. It could have been a room in any big box hotel - no character. None the less was clean and spacious.
Hotel location was central - right across the street from the train station and around the corner from Tivoli and within walking distance to the main shopping areas.
I am not sure I would even rate the Imperial as a 4 star hotel but this is how it is rated on most sites. The lack of any type of service was my biggest complaint. I will not return to this hotel on my next trip to Copenhagen.

I loved this hotel. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and professional. The location could not have been better. I was close to all the sights I wanted to see and the train station. the only odd thing was that the bath tub was very high off the ground. The first time I got out of it I almost smashed my head into the bathroom counter. This might have only been my room? I also found the whole city of Copenhagen to be a marvelous city with lots to do...and friendly locals.

“Brilliant!”

Imperial Hotel

9 Dec 2007

We had a three night stay in the Imperial, the room was modern, clean and of a good size. The view out of the window was poor, but the hotel's location was perfect, within walking distance of the shopping and museums. We also walked to the Carsberg brewery, but don't attempt that in poor weather! The staff at reception were most helpful and overall we had a great experience.
One point to mention is the breakfast buffet, which tended to get crowded, but a small detail which didn't spoil our first visit to Copenhagen. We would certainly stay there again and recommend it as a good base to walk from. (There are many restaurants and bistros within easy walking distance, so the choice of where to eat was difficult, in a nice way.)

“Average hotel”

Imperial Hotel

When we were checking in we were told that our reservation of a non-smoking room couldnt be met and that we would have to have a smoking room. When we got to our room the smell of smoke was overbearing.

The room was a capsule, very compact. It was clean and nicely furnished but our view was facing the car park. I wouldnt have minded this had the window shut properly; we were woken by people leaving early, on the saturday night we could hear the noise of the hotels function (a disco) that went on way past midnight. When i reported this the woman simply said 'ok', staff werent friendly or helpful.

On a positive note this hotel is perfectly located to get around, we didnt use any public transport the whole weekend as you can easily get around by foot. The hotel breakfast is varied - make sure you get there before 9.30 as they tend not to fill it up as much. The hotel provides free internet in the room (our had no batteries in so we couldn't) but there is also free internet in the lobby.

This hotel is simply average i did not think it was worth the money we spend to stay there (£150 a night), but then everything in copenhagen is very expensive.

“Wouldn't Stay There Again”

Stayed here two nights after a 10 day cruise. Room was smaller than ship's cabin. Beds were too soft for my liking. Bathroom configuration interesting - experienced same issue as other travelers with water getting everywhere in the bathroom when attempting a shower. Not enough counter space. The menus for the hotel restaurants are very limited - but you are within walking distance of other options. The free breakfast buffet was just so-so.

On the plus side - it was very clean and the recent renovations and updates were nice. The free internet access via your TV in the room was a nice feature (once I got it working - took three phone calls to the front desk to get it repaired).

Having also stayed at the Hilton before the cruise on this trip - I would stay there over the Imperial when returning to Copenhagen.
