Stayed at the Imperial Hotel for one night based on Trip Advisor. The first thing we noticed was that Copenhagen is a clean and tidy city. The only garbage we saw was strewn around the front entrance to the Imperial Hotel. We thought this was just bad timing, but the next day the garbage was still there. It was extremely hot in the hotel and instead of plainly stating that the hotel has no air conditioning (as advertised), we were told there was a problem in our wing. No one helped us with our luggage. When we spied an empty room being cleaned in the other wing, I went down to the desk (no one answered a phone) to request a room change, I was told to move it myself and let them know where. There was no service whatsoever. This room was so hot we thought the heat was on. The obnoxious youngish guy at the desk said (I swear) " I am waiting for you to tell me what you think I should do about your problems". My husband has a medical device that needs a converter. We were unsure if the converter we brought could be used in Denmark so I asked to borrow one. I was told the hotel does not have converters, and no, he has no idea where I can get one. The neighborhood is far from the harbour. There is no reason to choose this hotel. The one saving grace is staff member Mary Louise ( hopefully spelled correctly). She was the only friendly person we came into contact with. The same obnoxious guy from the night before would not let us check out one hour later without charging us for another day. First he said they were too crowded and then he said if we paid for another day, they were not so crowded. She jumped in and held our bags for us and arranged for a cab later in the day. She smiled. This was a big deal. We appreciated being treated like a guest for a few fleeting minutes.
