Hotel The Square is probably typical by Scandinavian standards; the rooms are small but nice, the staff are all efficient and all spoke English with little effort, and the room rate is high. I've stayed there several times because of location, location, location. It's just a couple of blocks to the central rail station (and your way to/from the airport) and it's right in the city centre next to HC Andersens Boulevard so there's plenty of nearby restaurants and pubs. I was disappointed that the hotel has no fitness center. The breakfast buffet (DKK 95) was very nice (but worth $20? ...welcome to Scandinavia) and had lots of healthy foods. I'd stay there again as the location is great and the staff are all friendly and efficient.

“Handy for central station”

Nice hotel, good modern decor. Room not that big and bit of squeeze to get between the bed and the TV stand! No restaurant for meals other than breakfast, but breakfast was nice Danish buffet. Really close to central rail station, Tivoli and main shopping area, with plenty of eateries around. Main negatives were that room not quite as spotless as one might expect (sink overflow distinctly murky) and that there was no tea and coffee making facility in the room, which was a nasty surprise for a Brit! Would stay there again as convenient and easy.

Stayed here on 29th February for 1 night. had booked 2 nights but moved hotels.

We felt that the location was good near the station and the main square, although the hotel we stayed in near the port was good as well.

Room was good as we were upgraded to a deluxe from a standard. Breakfast was busy but adequate. good buffet.

The main problem we had was the noise at night. Although we asked for a quiet room and were put on the 6th floor we did not sleep at all. Noise from the street below was terrible with people screaming and sirens/traffic. Avoid if you want to sleep.

Ended up at another hotel in the same chain 71 Nyhaven and this suits us much better as so quiet.

What I would say is that once we complained they had no problem moving us quickly to the other hotel at the same rate.

“A rip off .............”

The Square Copenhagen

stayed 5 nights at The Square Hotel......for the rate ( near €800) for 5 nights room only it was the biggest rip off I have ever endured. I booked a room .....double executive / double executive, expecting a large room with large beds. What we got was a very tiny room with two ''kids'' beds ( 2ft 6 in) I asked for a change immediately only to be told that all the rooms and beds were the same. We were on the 5th floor on the side , with a view of the office block across the street ( this was one of the exececutive views) . Needless to say it was impossible to sleep with the traffic noise , and as for the bed it was like lying on a beach ball. In the morning we were put in a room at the back ( a downgrade). It was quieter but the beds were the same. The bathrooms were OK with underfloor heating.. The breakfast was expensive and unappealing. Stay well clear of this hotel if you want a comfortable bed and a good nights sleep. It is very central but so are other hotels near the square. The staff were OK but the rates are over inflated and I would consider one star adequate for this establishment

This hotel was booked mainly due to its central location, access to the railway station and modernity.
Well, it certainly meets the bill in all three aspects. However, it is minimalist to the limit. There are no drawers at all in the rooms, open shelves is all. The "superior" double is, to be kind, compact. At the time of booking, it was made clear that breakfast was not included but could be purchased, as it turned out, for DKK 99.5. We decided that a better buy could be found outside, though February is not the best time of year for wandering around searching for breakfast in Copenhagen.
Would not stay there again, but would certainly re-visit Copenhagen at a warmer time of year, preferably when the Tivoli is actually open!
