“Terrible”

Avenue Hotel

Me & my wife decided to have a vacation in Copenhagen at Avenue Hotel and based on the reviews I had found this hotel very nice... Till we arrived...the pillow sheets were dirty, carpet had spots all over, bathroom unheated and not to mention about the shower....there is no shower cabin so it makes impossible to have a proper shower due to water that goes all over the place. Besides that, you can not stay too much in the shower because of the cold. When we asked to make a phone call out of Denmark our room phone did not work ....they could not even connect us from the reception to our room when we got phone calls. The staff was kind and they offered us the hotel phone line to make the outside calls, so we got finally help which was fine. Anyway, they could not fix our room phone in those 7 days spent there. The area is terrible, it looks like nobody lives there, like everybody left and the only shops around are a tatoo shop...and a greek restaurant which is very expensive and the food is not good as we expected.
Breakfast was very good but other than that, prices are very high, you can not buy anything, you can not eat anything good or decent
and the sites within the city are awful. Except the castles, Little Mermaid and Royal Palace which are great ! Overall, Copenhagen is not worth the money unless you want to be very close to Sweden !

I stayed one night in The Avenue in April. It was a Monday night so the hotel wasn't busy. Nor was Copenhagen. Staff seemed friendly enough and the hotel had a nice quiet feel. There was a bar/lounge area that seemed to be a help yourself type of affair. There was no restaurant for evening food although the breakfast was fine (standard buffet). My room was ok. Didn't have blackout blinds so I couldn't really get it dark enough but it was fine. bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. good shower. all in all it was quite nice.

we have just returned from a 3 day stay at the evenue hotel, copenhagen. i read all the reviews before i went and at this stage, i am wondering? is this the same hotel????.breakfast certainly below average. some packet meats on plates. breads, peppers, some cereals and juices, nothing cooked at all!the most miserly breakfast i have seen. room was ok if a little White!. no coffee or tea making facilities, which are needed here as it is quite off the beaten track.staf were okay.bad time of year to go(march), tivoli gardens closed etc.i will not be in a hurry to go back, either to that hotel or indeed, copenhagen!.
ckerins.

my husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 day while I was attending a conference at the Copenhagen Business School. the hotel is very well decorated, modern, and clean and very well located, although in the center of town. But in the summer and using the Copenhagen card, we used to walk everywhere or use the very efficient transportation system and it was great. we even found a very good greek restaurant just behind the hotel.
there is in fact a bus that takes you from the airport and the main train station, to just across the street from the hotel and there is one subway stop just 5 min walk from the hotel. our room was clean, spacious, very modern and quiet (we were overlooking the back). the breakfast is also very good, lots of variety of cheeses, bread and cold cuts and you can request also to have eggs. fresh fruit is always available and the personnel is really helpful and nice. we strongly recommend this place, we loved it and if you are ok with not being in the center of things, this hotel is a great deal too.

We stayed at the Avenue Hotel for two nights in August 2007, having booked on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews.

We were very happy with all aspects of our stay at the Avenue. Our room faced the rear of the hotel, and was of a good size for a European hotel. The decor was modern, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we could not fault the quality of the housekeeping.

The included breakfast buffet was excellent, and we enjoyed the ambience of the bar for a pre-dinner drink. There are a number of good restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel for evening meals, and there are also a couple of convenience stores nearby in the event you don't want to eat out.

Several reviewers have commented on the distance to the city centre. We walked to/from the Town Hall Square several times, we are not
"power walkers", and the trip took a leisurely 10 to 15 minutes (and Copenhagen is flat!).
