The hotel is along a tree lined avenue and within easy walking distance of the castle and the main town.
We had a lovely big room with a little balcony that had chairs and a table. Flat screen TV and the usual mod cons. Only thing lacking was A/C, but did not really notice once the windows had been open for a while. Very quiet at night and a lovely bed.
The hotel serves a meal in the evening, but we ate in the main town. Did have breakfast though and it was a really good selection and filled us up for the day ahead.
Overall I really enjoyed this hotel. Not the most high tech that you will stay in, but very pretty and a very "Swedish" feel to it.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.

I was staying in another hotel the night before, but had to change to due the fact that most Hotels were full at this period.
I walked from the other hotel to this one at 0940hrs to ask when I could check in, I was told about 1300hrs, I had to check out of the other hotel at 1200noon, I wandered the streets for an hour then arrived at the Hotel to check in, I was told in a surprised attitude that cleaning of the rooms was from 1200 noon until 1500hrs, I went for lunch, came back an hour later, still not ready.

I said to the receptionist "can't you just clean my room first , as I'm the only person waiting in the lobby for a room " ?, she didn't seem to understand that simple concept of prioritising !

Luckily there was a cleaner a the reception area who overheard the conversation, and suddenly like magic there was. a room available !

Basically an arrogant unhelpful receptionist caused unnecessary hassle for me.

Really not impressed !

WiFi 2 out of 5 bars ...slow !

I was in a tiny room probably 12M 2, to be fair it was one of the only hotels and room available in Kalmar this week due to Öland festival, there was strange smell from the room.

Breakfast, average, coffee was disgusting, scrambled egg not the best, not much fruit..basic !

The setting at this hotel is nice though, lots of trees and grassy areas

managed to get another hotel for my last night 😊

The Slottshotellet in Kalmar is very good located to visit the historical slotts as well as the city with it's harbour. The rooms are small but everything you need is there. The breakfast is amazing and directly next to a fireplace. Staff is nice. There is also a public livingroom and a nice terrace to enjoy the freetime.

Great location across from museum and park and short walk along beautiful tree lined street to the castle. Had a room in main building overlooking the park. Room small but big enough for small loveseat and table in addition to bed. The bathroom appeared to be a former closet, you could sit on toilet and wash your hands at the same time (a time saver?) , but not unexpected for an older place. Breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast selections better, but nice to have an option to get something at night. Easy walk to old town. There is a band stand across the street and a bar and restaurant, and the one night we were there was a free concert. Our experience much better than the other recent posts. Location a big plus for this hotel.

On the booking site that I used, this hotel was rated as a 4 star hotel. When we walked into the room, I thought I walked into a college dormitory! Linoleum floor in the entrance hall, sparse and simple old furniture, crumbly paint around the windowsill... The same can be said about the restaurant, where the breakfast was served. There is no way that this hotel can claim a 4 star rating. I would give it a 2. Needless to say, I quite feel that I've overpaid.
On the positive side, the location of the hotel is hard to beat. The quality of the breakfast was reasonable.
If ever I travel to Kalmar again, however, I would surely try something else.
