“This is a motel at best, not recommended”

Where to begin...

The hotel is run-down, damaged walls, broken pieces of a mirror littered the hallway outside my room, the elevator stopped about 5 inches short of the floor so you had to step down into the elevator. There were no washcloths in the bathroom, the heating was intermittent, only one thin blanket on the bed. Very limited TV channels, their "pay" movies are outdated and the remote didn't like to work unless it was 1 foot from the television. Pack your own clothes hangers, they only give you 2.
The area the hotel is in, is not a safe area (although Stockholm is a great city, this particular area was not a good place to be out at night). No vending machines, very limited supplies at the front desk and limited parking.
To those american travelers thinking of booking this hotel, just pay the extra money and stay in the city, you will not regret that decision. Stockholm is a beautiful city and staying at this hotel will ruin your visit.

As a large tourist hotel, it was what I expected however the 30 minute train trip to & from the city was a bit of a drag after 3 days.

The room was clean & comfy although the bathroom was a little dated.

Brekky was very nice with a huge range of foods served in a buffet style.

Although the hotel is not immediately near city center, it is within a 5 minute walk of the subway, which is a fast trip to downtown. There is also a shopping center a block away, which includes the usual shops. If you're an American, be prepared for short shopping hours, as we found everything closed by 7pm.

Our room was acceptable, but was furnished with twin beds and the bathroom smelled of mildew, which might have been due to the door being left closed and prolonged lack of use. Hotel staff eventually came to investigate the odor by sending a woman up (who... did not knock - just whipped open the door) and sprinkled some deodorizer in the toilet and tub. Running water through the floor drain seemed to alleviate the odor more than anything.

We asked if there were any rooms available with double beds and were told that they did not furnish their rooms with double beds, which we found odd, since we saw double beds through open doors when housekeeping was cleaning. We also called to have light bulbs replaced and an electrical problem on one side of the room investigated. When the woman appeared at our door, she put her head into the room and exclaimed "Why... you have lights!" as though there was no problem. I re-explained the issue with the room not having electricity on one wall and she repeated, "But you DO have lights!" She ultimately consulted with maintenance and was able to reset the breaker, which must have flipped.

On a more positive note, the breakfast buffet was great, which is included with the price of the room. It was full of breads, jams, cheese, cold cuts, kaviar (for those who like it), eggs (hard-boiled and soft), bacon, coffee, tea, juice and milk. Load up in the morning and you can walk all day in the city!

Overall, the hotel staff was cordial, but one cannot compare customer service in this hotel to a comparable hotel in the states.

stayed here in feb. its a bit far from the city if you want to hang out late at night at the pubs or restauraunts or whatever. hotel itself is okay. housekeeping a bit noisy outside your door in the morning but the rooms are clean and fine. But with the distance from the city, probably wouldnt stay here again.

“Best price / quality in Stockholm”

Quality Hotel Prince Philip

The hotel has probably the best price / quality relationship in Stockholm, which is an important issue considerinh swedish high prices. It is located in the district of skarholmen, connected by metro (t-banna). That is not the most central place in stochkolm but is only 10 minutes away from it. Staff is helpful and gentle (I guess everyone that works in the field in sweden is) and everything else is rather appealing (room, bar, etc.) If you want to spend some time in stockholm and relax about the price to pay for a decent accomodation that is the place to choose!
