Just back from a four night stay at the Royal Viking Stockholm.
Fantastic location due to the proximity of the Arlanda Express, the side of the hotel is actually located next to the platform a great benefit as we had to take the 06.35am train to catch our flight home.We were on the Goldpointsplus weekend extended 2 for 2 offer.
After checking in we found our room had twin beds so went back down and told the girl we had asked for a double bed when booked. We were then given a lecture on how you can't specify what type of bed you want so I had to show her the printed out confirmation page of a double bed request made at the time of booking - there really was no need for her to carry on the way she did, anyway she gave us what we wanted or as a Radisson Gold card holder I would have complained to the manager about her manner.I am not the complaining type so you can imagine her attitude must have been bad.All the rest of the staff were professional in their attitude.
Room was adequate size, and always spotlessly clean, bed was big and very comfortable, small bathroom with shower no bath, bathrobes supplied, foldaway ironing board with iron, kettle with coffee and tea, minibar. Located on the 8th floor with a great view over the city temperature control was maintained efficiently.
Breakfast was a bit of a free for all as the dining area is too small for the size of hotel when full and we had to share a table, good choice of food to satisfy everyones taste.
On checking out and looking at the bill I saw we had been charged for the four nights, I explained the extended weekend offer deal we had booked to the girl but she didn't understand and eventually a young man found out that such a rate existed and apologised before amending the bill. No time for breakfast so we took advantage of the free "grab a breakfast and run" facility in the lobby (basically coffee and croissant) which is handy for taking on the train.
All the main attractions are within walking distance of the hotel if you are fit and I would not bother with the city bus tour it is really a waste of money. Spend the money saved on a ferry ride to Vaxholm - a great day out.
PS. As a Radisson Gold card holder I did not receive any extra benefits which was a pity as other hotel chains treat their loyal customers far better than Radisson.
