Located minutes from the Express Train to Arlanda Airport and just about next door to the "T-Centralen" --the subway station where all lines converge-- the Royal Viking is centrally located and very convenient to all types of tranportation.

However, this is probably not the hotel for you if you are looking for: (A) Help with your baggage. (B) A peaceful night's sleep--as there are busy streets outside where traffic never seems quite to end. (C) A quiet and Romanic getaway. (D) Spacious and well designed rooms.

Other than those negatives, the staff seemed friendly, efficient and helpful--although we never did see a person who resembled a concierge. The free WiFi service was a real bonus, and will be for you too if you are the type of travelers who like to do their own research.

the Hotel has a great location for those of us who love to walk.
The rooms are tiny...I booked a Junior Suite....if it weren't for the sign on the door that said junior suite I would have never known. The room was tiny, it had the bed a small living room and then a peek a boo bathroom....big window with a small curtain form the shower to the bed area. Great for peep shows! The room looked furnished in the 70's, and was not adequate for the price..I felt specially insulted that they called this a junior suite. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed one night post-cruise and picked this particular hotel for two reasons: proximity ot the Arlanda Express and Air Conditioning.

As has been stated, the hotel is directly next to the central train station and more importantly, there is a more or less short cut from the side entrance of the hotel to the platform from which the Arlanda Express leaves. There is absolutely no other hotel in the city which is any closer than this one but others, such as the Sheraton are, literally, right down the street.

We arrived early in the morning (before 9:00 AM) and were given the usual "the room is only guaranteed from four o'clock" but it turned out to be ready by 10:30.

We had an 'executive' room and i measured it: 13 X 13 feet in the main area; a 7 X 8 foot entry hall.

Air conditioning was powerful. There was no safe in the room but there was coffee/tea-making capacity, the usual mini bar, and iron and board.

Bath had a tub/shower combination with good water pressure.

Breakfast buffet included in the rate has been moved temporarily from the central atrium (under renovation until August 2007) to the hotel's restaurant area. The buffet had the usual cold cereals, lots of yogurt (four kinds), scrambled eggs (definitely powdered!!!) and bacon/sausages and so forth.

The hotel is within very easy walking distance to main shopping areas, many restaurants, and is an easy Metro (T-bana) ride to other places from Central Station next door. We actually walked from Gamla Stan to the hotel without difficulty.

Overall, the stay was satisfactory for us because the hotel met our basic requirements and needs. I would not consider it the best "business type" hotel I've ever stayed in, however.

my wife and i stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in july, 2007 and had a great time. the hotel is perfectly located with easy access to the old city as well as the metro and the train to/from the airport. the staff were excellent, the hotel spotless and very stylish and the sky bar a nice spot for a drink. the rooms, typical to europe are not huge but they are super clean and very efficient without feeling small. the beds were among the most comfortable i've encountered in any hotel (we travel quite a bit) and the bathroom was spotless.

it is well suited to both the pleasure traveler and the business traveler. the whole hotel is wifi enabled.

and, the restaurant was quite good as was breakfast. the only minor complaint was that breakfast was not included.

overall, i would recommend this hotel to anyone going to stockholm, which is just a fantastic city.
