“Best 4* Hotel I've ever stayed at”

Diplomat Hotel

I like to stay in "Nice Hotels". This is a nice hotel. The rooms here huge and clean, with internet on the TV and a limited range of movies on demand. The shower was one of those decadent showers that are attached to the ceiling and rain warm water down on you like a mini-waterfall. Additionally, the Hotel restaurant served amazing food, the best we had in Stockholm, and we were using the WallPaper city guide.

We didn't want to leave, we jokingly calculated if we afford to live there permanently. Highly Recommended.

“Another Great Stay”

Diplomat Hotel

The 3rd time we've stayed at this hotel in 5 years, so we obviously like it. When we booked this year there was no mention that there would be resoration / decoration work going on to the exterior. Luckily, our own balconies were unaffected, so we weren't inconvenienced at all.

We usually stay in one of the junior suites - this time we had one with a sauna / steam room, which made for a very pleasant start to the evenings.

The staff are always friendly & helpful and for the first time ever we had dinner in the hotel one night, which was much more pleasurable than we'd anticipated.

The waterfront-facing rooms are the best, but don't expect a long lie-in - ferries depart from directly outside the hotel.

“Charming hotel in the centre of Stockholm”

Diplomat Hotel

16 Oct 2007

A charming hotel in the centre of Stockholm.
When we started to search for a hotel in Stockholm
location was one of the first things we looked for.
We came across Diplomat and beauce of the easily managed website together with the facilites of the rooms we decided to stay there. That was a very good choice, we loved our room.
The personal was friendly and always helpful. The breakfast and dinner superb! The free relaxation area was a nice extra treat,
We recommend everyone to stay here and we will be back the next time we visit Stockholm!

“True scandinavian style”

I am from Frankfurt in Germany and do have to say that I love the true skandinavian spirit one can feel beeing a guest of the Diplomat Hotel. Not only are the rooms and all public areas presenting a perfect combination of cosyness and coolness, you can even purchase some items like e.g. the salt and pepper from the restaurant.
What I particularly liked is that you are in the heart of the city so you do not need a taxi in the evening.
Also very nice is the private use of the relaxation area and the cool cocktail bar in the first floor.
I am already looking forward to come back again.

“The Good, Bad & Ugly!”

Diplomat Hotel

5 Sep 2007
3/4 found this review helpful

Having had trouble making a reservation for this very busy time of the year in Stockholm, a friend (also a Stockholm native!), recommended the Diplomat Hotel, mainly for the location. We stayed here 4 nights prior to embarking on a cruise.
Due to delayed plane schedules, we arrived around 11:00 p.m.
The small reception just inside the entrance was confusing, as it is located in the restaurant...almost. The staff was very nice, and offered to bring our 4 large suitcases up to our 4th floor room. A feat in itself, given that 3 people in the very small elevator was a crowd! Quite charming with the two decorative gates, which had to be closed to operate...but VERY SMALL!
We knew our room for the first night would be quite small, but this one was about the size of my walk-in closet at home, with a bath tacked on! However, given the hour and long day of flying, we thought the bed looked wonderful! And, it was quite comfortable. As other reviewers have stated, there is NO air conditioning! Upon opening the window to get air and cool the room, we found that we were in an alley, and construction scaffolding was attached to the building. Hopefully, we would not have company in the morning outside the open window!
The noise the next morning was horrendous! Lots of banging and construction noise! (No workers looking into our room though!) We had been told that we would be moved to a larger room for the remainder of our stay, which was to be the case. A beautiful corner room with a great view of the waterway and other islands...along with the unbelieveable traffic NOISE coming from the busy street below! Since open windows were a requirement for comfort, and we did have a great cross-breeze, we worried about the noise level at night. However, the nights were very quiet. Large, comfortable bed, with sitting area with sofa and two large easy chairs, nice t.v., desk, plus very tiny table and chairs next to window overlooking the lovely view. Also, very nice bath, with large tub and separate shower. All this for about $700.!!! per night! Not quite worth that, but it was a lovely room.
Nice restaurant with very good food. We had room service for all the breakfasts, which were very reasonably priced. Did not use the buffet, however, we were automatically billed for it! Make sure that breakfast is not included in your room charge.
Another caution, be very careful in walking around your room, especially at night, There are one or two steps everywhere!! My friend, in another room, fell twice when she neglected to remember they were there!
This is a wonderful hotel for location...walking distance to almost every sight. Not a great value, however.
