This hotel is very well located, right in the heart of the old part of the city and within easy walking distance of the city centre.
The room was excellent, quite large, with a slightly small bathroom, but very well laid out and designed, with high quality furnishing, something you would expect of a 5 star hotel, although sometimes you don't always get this everywhere.
The only downer was the sunlight streaming through the curtains at 5 am the following day - there are now blinds and there was no way of getting back to sleep after that.
Had breakfast next day in the Veranda restaurant, which has an excellent view of the seafront. A wide selection of foods to chose from atthe buffet breakfast and very quick, efficient service.
The evening of my arrival went to the bar area and this is one thing which has changed for the better since my previous stays at this hotel. The bar area is much larger, with great seating area overlooking the seafront and with a chill out look and feel to the place, very tastefully done. The new managment (now Intercontinental) also shows in the attention to details.
Finally just to say that in previous years, you sometimes had either a very good room or a pretty lacklustre affair. It seems this has improved and now all the rooms have been refurbished. However, having said that, there is a huge array in the layout and size of the rooms, ranging from small singles, to medium and large doubles, through to suites. So caveat emptor !!
