We stayed two nights in the Hasselbacken with a family group, for tourism in Stockholm. The hotel is on an island (Djurgarden) connected to other parts of Stockholm by road bridge, trolley, and (short) ferry. The Skansen open-air museum, Wasa ship museum and Nordic museum are all on the island, as is a park that was formerly the royal hunting grounds. An old-fashioned amusement park is located right behind the hotel.
Hotel rooms were of adequate size, but crowded if sofa bed pulled out (in family room.) Bathrooms were good. We could hear some noise from other rooms, and faint happy screams from the amusement park rides, but not enough to keep us awake. The included breakfast buffet was generous and excellent. Hotel has very nice saunas with cold plunge for sauna enthusiasts (no swimming pool.) We loved the quiet location away from street traffic but easily accesible to everything in Stockholm. It is a beautiful area for walking or bike-riding on hotel bicycles. The rate was more than you would pay for equivalent quality in a US city, but reasonable by Stockholm standards (less than $200 USD.) We could have gotten a lower rate by pre-paying in advance through the hilton.com website. The hotel had a lot of families with young children, and children were welcomed and provided for with play area. Overall, hotel quality was satisfactory but not luxurious, with best qualities being location and breakfast buffet.

Scandic Hasselbacken is a fabulous hotel. We had a family superior room, which was gorgeous and plenty big for us (family of four, two small children). The setting was quiet; the huge breakfast buffet, which was almost all organic, was such a treat (the Hasselbacken dining room is gorgeous); and the front desk staff were as helpful and friendly as could be.

This hotel is right next to Skansen and Grona Lund, and just a few minutes walk from the Aquarium, the Nordiska Museet, the Vasa Museet, and Junibacken. Also, the #47 bus is a few steps away to take you to Norrmalm and T-Centrallen - an easy and fast ride.

This is a great place for families or for anyone who has Skansen, Vasa and Junibacken at the top of their must visit list. Highly recommended.

“Lovely Hotel - Great location- Good value for money”

We were tempted to stay in a hotel more in the centre of Stockholm but are so glad we chose this one instead. Our room was spotless and the bed was the most comfortable one we have ever slept in - we had trouble getting up in the mornings! The staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly or helpful. We were visiting family and friends just outside Stockholm and they gave us details of the necessary transport and looked up timetables for us. The location was lovely - right next to Skansen (a must to visit - it makes our zoos and animal parks look pathetic and the old buildings are amazing!) Getting into Central Stockholm was very easy and the buses and boats very frequent ,even in October. We will definitely stay here next time we visit Stockholm.

We stayed here for a weekend in April. The hotel was a nice change from the typical, sterile Scandics. While not quite downtown (10 min by cab, 25 min by foot), the location in Djurgården was great. It was quiet and right next door to Skansen, Gröna Lund, Wasa Museum, and Junibacken. Both Mamma Mia and Cabaret (btw, go see Cabaret -- Jöback & Co. are amazing!) were playing right next door.

The room was nice and cozy. Perhaps a bit on the small side (even though we were upgraded being Hilton Gold VIPs) and slightly scruffy in places. However, the view over Gröna Lund towards Old Town and Royal Palace was nice. Breakfast was a good, extensive Scandic affair with a fair deal of organic foodstuffs.

We had a ridiculously cheap Easter special price (50 euros per night, including breakfast), so the value was outstanding.

Scandic Hasselbacken is nice for a weekend break and especially convenient if you plan to visit any of the Djurgården sights.

“Nice breakfast and big rooms”

Scandic Hasselbacken

We stayed at the Hasselbacken for 2 nights. We got an incredibly good rate of 450SEK per night including breakfast. The room had modern decor - mostly black and gold finish and was on the large side.

We were rather disappointed with the lack of tea/coffee making facilities and fruit trays. (which were available at the Scandic Continental). As mentioned in a previous review, the breakfast buffet was extensive, including meatballs and reindeer sausages.

Service was average. Location wise, there is only so much to do in Djurgarden. Visitors making short trips should just stay in the city centre and take a bus (10 minute ride) to Djurgarden.

In conclusion, a good hotel with excellent value for money.
