Was here on business, so the company I was visiting booked me in to this hotel. It was OK. The first room I had was pretty big, the second one was tiny. It's minimalist and with windows right out to the street where the train station was.

Overall, the Sheraton, which I stayed at earlier in the week, was much nicer. This however, was right next to (as in, completely next to) the Arlanda Express, which made an early morning trip to the airport for a flight.

Anyway, the key feature of this hotel is that the Ice Bar Stockholm is in the base. Make reservations and go as it's hilarious. Totally overpriced and not really a comfy place to have a drink, but great nonetheless.

We stayed at this hotel for four days. The room was nice, although slightly small. Our first evening we had dinner at the bar, which was quite good. The bartender was helpful and kind. The fish tank that is in the middle is quite beautiful and adds to the ambiance. The average room rate for us was about 170euros / night. (Granted, we stayed over New Years).

There isn't one thing that makes me not like this hotel, but it wasn't something I was gushing over after the stay. We have stayed at better hotels for less. The hotel was quite clean and catered more towards couples and very young families.

The location is decent... it's close to the Arlanda Express, and the subway is right around the corner. There are prettier areas to stay in (particularly Gamla Stan), but it is helpful to be right at the central station and hook up to wherever you are going.

The breakfast area was well suited for as large of a hotel as this is. There was a large array of sandwich items in addition to breakfast foods like scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt etc. I noticed many KLM airline employees, so this must be a home base for them.

At night there are quite a few people lingering around in the lobby, due to the Absolut Ice Bar, which is located in the hotel. The security seems to be quite good - key cards are needed to use the elevator. Our room was quiet, even with a baby two doors down.

“Decent but expensive and with staff as cold as their ice bar”

The Nordic Sea Hotel is a fairly uninspiring city-centre block well located for the railway station, shopping streets and not too far from the tourist sights.

After seeing earlier reviews, I asked for a room with a window (a view over a dull flat roof!) - GBP190pn. It was a fair size and came with all expected requisites such as hot drinks, bathroom toiletries, etc, that are often lacking in Swedish hotels.

There is no restaurant and the bar is quite small with very limited food options. The breakfast is okay but the room was very busy and not especially relaxing - there are a lot of businessmen staying here.

I did find all the staff, without exception, rather aloof and unfriendly. The valet car parking was welcome, but quite expensive.

We just returned from Stockholm and spent 3 nights at the Nordic Sea. The staff was very nice and helpful, even though they were very busy at times. The breakfast buffet was nice, however it was hard to find a seat at times. The beds were not real comfortable and be aware that the couch is not a "pull out" couch. It is a sheet over the cushions to make a bed. Overall, the hotel was clean and quiet.

This hotel is located close to the Arlanda Express, which takes you to and from the airport. Otherwise, I did not think this hotel was in a great location. I would have prefered to stay closer to the sightseeing attractions.

The Absolute Ice Bar is great, but very busy. If you stay at the hotel, book your resevation through the hotel, it is discounted.

I was originally planning to stay at the Hotel Rival (which is currently rated #1 on tripadvisor and highly recommended by many sources, etc.), but after careful consideration of my particular travel plans, I switched to the Nordic Sea. Based on the difficulty in getting a room at the Hotel Rival, I imagine I made someone on the waiting list very happy when I canceled my booking.

My main reason to switch hotels was location. As I was only staying for two days and leaving very early in the morning for the airport, the ability to just walk into the Arlanda Express station was a huge plus. The entrance to the Arlanda Express is literally a couiple of steps away. You dont' have to walk back to the main Central Station to access the Arlanda Express platform as it has its own entrance next to the Nordic Sea entrance. Furthermore, the hotel is fairly central. OK, it's a block away from the train station on a non-landscaped sidestreet, but for a place to lay one's head at night, the location and amenities were more than enough.

Many have noted the room size to be small and to be honest after some of the other places I stayed in during my jaunt through Scandinavia, I was pleasantly surprised with the size of this room. To be clear, I got the cheap standard room (ok, not the one without windows, but not the deluxe either). You walk in and it had a little entrance "hallway" and then a decent size room with a queen bed, a throw rug, desk, etc. There was also a place to lay the suitcase which was a plus and some places I stayed in you couldn't have a suitcase open in the room and walk at the same time. I read the reviews of the Nordic Sea before I checked in so I fully expected it to be small but it was larger than I expected and more than comfortable. If you want to see small, check out Det Hanseatiske in Bergen, Norway!!

The bathroom was relatively large with a combo shower/tub. Here's the shocking thing: never in my life have a taken a bath in a hotel bathroom. I general, they never looked clean enough to and like most people, if the shower doesn't have signs of mold and has decent water pressure I consider myself lucky. Well, perhaps it was the result of a week of pseudo-backpacking through Scandinavia talking, but a tub never looked so clean and inviting in my life. They have bath salts as well in the bathroom which sealed the deal. I think this is the biggest testament that I can give to a hotel - to actually deem the tub and bathroom to be spotless enough for me to take a bath in a hotel!

Breakfast was a good spread, a mix of American and European basics.

There are free internet terminals in the hotel lobby. They are guised as Stockholm tourism computers, but you can go into the address bar and type and access other sites.

Another perk is that the Absolut Ice Bar is located in the hotel. I was there on a Friday and Saturday night and upon check in on Friday morning, all the slots were booked, but as many have noted, there is walk-in, first-come, first-served from 9:45 p.m. on. Staying in the hotel it was convenient to just walk downstairs and get on the list at 9:30 p.m. I got in the first group of walk-ins. The guy at the reservation desk also noted that if you are staying in the hotel you can put your name on the list and they will call you in your room when they get to your number. This way you don't have to linger in the lobby if you don't want to. Also, you get a small discount on the ice bar extrance if you are a hotel guest.

I found the price of this hotel to be on par with other similarly appointed hotels so it was a fair value.

Easy walking distance to the city hall and Gamla Stan (I'd say about 10 minutes). Same distance to the main shopping streets.

The only con I found was that there was no double-lock on the door; just one deadbolt.

I would recommend this hotel for a quick stay in Stockholm when central location is a priority. If I was staying longer I probably would have kept my reservation in Hotel Rival. In sum, I agree with a previous reviewer's comment that the Nordic Sea "ticks all the boxes".
