I stayed here with my wife and booked their best room (it was her birthday after all!), the double executive deluxe. They have to of these rooms and my parents booked the other one. Theirs was perfect (488), ours was just short of perfect (466) as the safe was broken and the shower flooded the bathroom. The rooms on this executive floor sound much bigger and better sound proofed than the others I have read of in these reviews, so remember to ask!
Breakfast was okay but there are just not enough tables so many people were left standing around waiting. We ate dinner there on the first night and I was quite impressed with the food considering how basic the dining room was. Beware though, the bar and restaurant are closed on Sundays.
The location is wonderful and I would recommend this hotel as a good three star not the four they claim.

“Service and food Great, THIN walls”

Clean Ikea-like design. Sumptious breakfast buffet (beware of the morning rush, when you might have to eat standing up, crowded around the bar!) Friendly staff, clean rooms, but SMALL. Barefuly enough room to open my suitcase. Bathroom felt like I was on a ship, if you turn around in the shower you you will hit the water temperature lever. Free wireless internet in the room is a WELCOME treat, and hopefully will become the industry standard. Walls are THIN! I woke up in the middle of the night because there was SNORING in the room next to me. There was a connecting door, which perhaps was too thin.. but should be corrected.
Hopefully they will make their outdoor eating terrace non-smoking.. a lovely little area. I would stay again, provided I get a larger more sound-proof room.

I booked my room at the best western for a pre-xmas trip based on its location in the city centre. However, although theoretically it is in the middle of the city centre, it is towards the less busy end of the main shopping street (Drottninggatan). It's location would be absolutely perfect for business travellers as it is situated next to one of the main conference centres in the city and it is convenient for the restaurants, bars etc on the main street, literally just round the corner.
They serve a great extensive breakfast and the rooms, although compact, are clean and well presented. I stayed with a friend in a twin room, which for two of us for three nights was ever so slightly cramped. The shower room was nice and clean, with a lovely power shower, heated towel rail and hairdryer. In the room there was an ironing board and iron in the wardrobe, along with a safe and details of the laundry facilities (very expensive!). The obligatory mini-bar, small table and one chair, tea and coffee making facilities and television completed the room's inventory, which perhaps all contributed towards the cramped feeling.
As a British tourist staying in this hotel, I felt that there was a general assumption by the staff that most of the guests were Swedish business people, and we were frequently greeted and spoken to in Swedish, which, though charming, was indicative of the source of the majority of their guests. The staff were all competent in English though, and were happy to help with any queries. My general comments would be; small but clean and well equipped rooms, mainly Swedish clientele and the location is not quite as central as it may seem when looking on a map ! For a tourist, I would advise a hotel much closer to Gamla Stan.

The Wallin was very nice. Clean throughout, comfortable beds, and a pleasant staff. Computer in the front lobby to check your email, and fortunately they have a sign on it to remind people to just use it for 15 minutes or less, since some people seem to think they are in their own living room and spend all day looking at the stock market or whatever.

The best aspect of this hotel was the breakfast. Fresh pastries, cereals, breads, fruit, deli meats and cheese. A great Scandinavian spread, with some extras that I don't usually see in Northern Europe. A waffle maker. A basket of oranges and a juicer. Yes, juicers are all over southern Europe, this was a nice unique touch in Scandinavia. Also, you could sit outside to eat, which was fantastic during the warm spell we had in Stockholm.

The only caution I would give you is that it is on the northwest end of the action. So it is a 15 minute walk to the train station, 25 minutes to Gamla Stan, you get my drift. Look it up on the map, look up the attractions you are interested in, and see if it fits what you need. I have no problem walking so it wasn't an issue for me, but it was slightly farther from the station and the attractions than what I usually choose.

One of the two rooms we got was "upgraded" to a better room. It had a sauna in the bathroom, a clawfoot tub, and everything was a bit larger. No big deal, as we don't spend a lot of time sitting around the room, but it is always nice when the hotel offers you something you didn't necessarily expect.

I would stay here again, especially if I were travelling alone. If I were travelling with someone who complains about walking a bit, I'd choose the Scandic Continental or something in that area, or I would pick a different travelling companion!

The Wallin Hotel is a very good hotel 1 block from the main walking/shopping street and about a 20 minute walk to Gamla Stan. It is also two blocks from the bus which is free with the Stockholm Card (worth every penny).

The rooms are small but very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent, and fruits/snacks were available throughout the day and evening. There is also free internet in the lobby...for guests.

At $90/night in late July, this is an excellent value. We would stay at the Wallin Hotel again.
