The Wallin was very nice. Clean throughout, comfortable beds, and a pleasant staff. Computer in the front lobby to check your email, and fortunately they have a sign on it to remind people to just use it for 15 minutes or less, since some people seem to think they are in their own living room and spend all day looking at the stock market or whatever.
The best aspect of this hotel was the breakfast. Fresh pastries, cereals, breads, fruit, deli meats and cheese. A great Scandinavian spread, with some extras that I don't usually see in Northern Europe. A waffle maker. A basket of oranges and a juicer. Yes, juicers are all over southern Europe, this was a nice unique touch in Scandinavia. Also, you could sit outside to eat, which was fantastic during the warm spell we had in Stockholm.
The only caution I would give you is that it is on the northwest end of the action. So it is a 15 minute walk to the train station, 25 minutes to Gamla Stan, you get my drift. Look it up on the map, look up the attractions you are interested in, and see if it fits what you need. I have no problem walking so it wasn't an issue for me, but it was slightly farther from the station and the attractions than what I usually choose.
One of the two rooms we got was "upgraded" to a better room. It had a sauna in the bathroom, a clawfoot tub, and everything was a bit larger. No big deal, as we don't spend a lot of time sitting around the room, but it is always nice when the hotel offers you something you didn't necessarily expect.
I would stay here again, especially if I were travelling alone. If I were travelling with someone who complains about walking a bit, I'd choose the Scandic Continental or something in that area, or I would pick a different travelling companion!
