“Loved the Rica Hotel Kungsgatan”

Rica Hotel Kungsgatan

We decided to stay at the Hotel Rica Kungsgatan after reading so many nice reviews here at Tripadvisor, and we were absolutely delighted with out choice.
Great location, you can walk from the hotel to many sightseeing places, the metro station Hotorget is only 3 minutes away, there’s a nice market just outside the hotel, and the train central station is 5 minutes away by foot (where you can get the fast train to the airport – pls note, on the weekends, there’s a buy one get one free ticket offer)
The room was clean, bright and comfortable, great central heating, we had bath robes an slippers, the shower was good and hot. There is this funny flushing system that is quite noisy, but that didn’t bother us.
Breakfast was wonderful, a huge buffet selection, lots of Swedish specialties, different types of bread, varied tea selection, hard or soft boiled eggs, this funny beans with mustard, cheeses, juices…
It’s a great value for your money, I highly recommend this hotel, and Stockholm is such a beautiful city!

We stayed here over the New Year 2007/8 and it was a really good experience. The location is good for travel connections and shopping, plus there are plenty of restaurants nearby whoever these are not the best that Stockholm has to offer but good for a quick fill.
We had booked a room with no windows (I didn’t notice when I booked and only saw later) but we were upgraded as soon as we arrived to a room with windows. It was a decent size and well furnished, the only small problem was that the double bed was made from two singles pushed together and these slid apart fairly easily but this was not too much of a problem.
The Breakfast was fantastic there was such a large selection of fresh produce, cereals, cooked and cold meats, local specialties and there was variety in what was there, eggs cooked for 3mins or 7mins, about 6 varieties of tea, 5 different types of bread there were even 4 different types of water with fruit in it to add subtle flavours. This was probably the best breakfast selection I have had whilst traveling and even the fussiest of eaters will be able to fill up for a day of activities.
We receive a night’s accommodation when we booked, as there was an offer of stay for 4 nights but pay for 3 so this made it a really affordable place to stay. All in all a great hotel and would certainly recommend.

The hotel has a perfect location, right in the city center. Shops and sights are near. It was easy and fast to get to the room and back to the town.

I had a room for one and my sisters family got a spacious corner room with three windows and a sofa. Rooms were clean and quiet. From my sisters room you could see the whole town (we were in the 7th floor). My view was a bit limited but okay (window faced another buildings roof).

The breakfast was versatile. There was bread, yoghurt, myesli, cornflakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, traditional swedish food (for example herring) and baked rolls. The range of fruit juices was fabulous (kiwi, apple, orange, cowberry and tomato). You could also brew you're own tea from 4 different types of tea in addtition to liptons bagtea. The only minus was that the vegetable plates had been made long before breakfast. So that the cucumbers, tomatoes and sweet peppers were a bit dry when served.

In the rooms there are coffee/teamakers, hairdryer and tv. The rooms were quiet. I woke up one morning to the sound of the water pump (I guess neighbours were in the shower) but othervise I didn't hear a sound from elsewhere.

Just spent 9 days at the Rica Kungsgaten. The location was the best, easy walking distance to the train station even with 10 days worth of luggage. Easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. They were all very knowlegable and especially helpful in booking difficult to get Christmas Eve restaurant reservations. Our rooms were typical European-sized, clean and comfortable and looked out over a big outdoor market which was a nice touch.

The hotel begins on the building's 4th floor-above the famous PUB department store. Within walking distance of the Central Station and in the midst of the shopping district. Also within walking distance of Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace. Comfortable-sized rooms; interior rooms have no windows. This is not a noticeable drawback. Large breakfast buffet.
