Zinkensdamm is a great value for downtown Stockholm! It is close to the subway and on Sodermalm Island.

The rooms are accurately pictured on their website. This hotel was clean and accomodating.
The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious.

I would highly recommend Zinkensdamm for your next trip to Stockholm.

I stayed at the Zinkensdamm Hostel in May 2006. It is situated not in the middle of Stockholm but in a nice quiet residential area in Zinkensdamm near a park. It's about a 5 minute walk to the station so not too far away. In saying that , in the immediate area there isn't much there except for a few restaurants (a great sushi place situated next to the subway entrance) and a couple of mini markets - so if you're looking for nightlife you won't want to stay there.

Our room was very nice and contained a mini bar and tv. The windows are double glazed which is great keeping the heat and keeping out what little noise there was outside. We had one of the hostel rooms (double room with bathroom) which, to be honest I don't think is any different from the hotel rooms they have there except for the fact that our room was not cleaned and tidied every day. So very comfortable.

They have a bar and restaurant but if you want to save money you can use the communal kitchen.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and thankfully for me, they all spoke English as my rudimentary attempts at speaking Swedish weren't that good.

The cost of the room was a little pricey but then most things are in Sweden (ignore what the Swedish tourist board tries to tell you - the cost of everything in Sweden is still high!).

Would definately recommend this as a nice place to stay.

I have stayed here twice on business and would recommend it highly. Functional but comfortable rooms, nice bar serving good food and very helpful and friendly staff. Not quite the city centre but 5 -10 mins walk from the subway and another 5 and you are there. For the money (I paid circa 52 GBP per night) it can't be faulted.

Despite its bad location it is a good 3 star hotel / youth hostel. It's a good place to meet people because it is small and charming, with very helpful and nice staff.
I was in the youth hostel side, in a private 4 people room with TV and shower. The only bad point is that you have to rent the sheets and, as a youth hostel, you must clean the room.
Next time I go to Stockholm I will probably stay in this hotel again.
