Located on the Sodermalm island, very close to the
subway station Medborgardplatsen, Columbus Hotel is
very picturesque, with quaint corridors and rooms with nice
old furniture (old, in a good way: don't worry, you won't
smash your bed!).
Since I booked one of the Annexe rooms, the bathroom was
a shared one... yet, I had a basin for washing hands within
the room.

The staff was friendly and so were the guests. No complaints
about the breakfast either, as there was plenty to choose from:
bread, cheese, ham, eggs, salad and two types of yoghourt.
And maybe something more, but I don't remember.
If you need to check the internet, a laptop is available at
the entrance.
Hotel payment is made upon check-in.
I don't think there is an elevator, but since i only had small
baggage I didn't bother looking for it... and, besides, I usually
prefer stairs anyway.
Overall, I had a good time and a good night!

Welcoming and professional staff, comfortable and large room for Europe, free internet access on a laptop in the lobby, hearty breakfast and a great location. This place is a gem, I'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed on the top floor (the Annex), for just one night. We were very happy with our experience, in general. We were allowed to check in early, much needed after an early AM arrival on a trans-Atlantic flight. We found the room very clean and charming. The bathrooms were clean, if a bit of a stroll.

However, given a choice, I would request a room facing the north side (towards the church). Our room faced south, towards the street. There were a lot of loud cars and motorcycles passing on the busy street a block away, into the wee hours of the night.

My husband and I stayed at the Columbus for 3 nights two weeks ago. We were very pleased with the historical ambience of the hotel, which is extremely attractive and clean-- albeit not luxurious. The neighborhood is wonderful, too, with many restaurants, parks and cafes. The hotel's breakfast and snacks are very good, as well. The one downside is that our room was located just above the lobby and looked out on the front courtyard with its patio seating. We could hear hotel patrons returning to the hotel late each night, and some would sit outside talking and laughing loudly until very late -- e.g., 3 am.
