Just returned from four days in Stockholm, where we stayed at the Hotel Stureplan. It is located on a street with many shops and restaurants, and is a ten minute walk away from the waterfront. We had a "superior king" room on the fifth floor, that was large and had a great view down the street. Some noise from down below, but wasn't bothersome. We received one night free for staying at least three days.
Breakfast was as good as any we have experienced in Europe. Lots of selection and very high quality. We had one evening meal in the restaurant that was also very good. Prices for food are very high in Sweden, so be prepared. We don't drink but we regularly averaged $100+ for a meal for two. There are many good restaurants close to the hotel . . . in particular "The Frog", in back of the the Stureplan Galleria, and P & A just down the street from the hotel. Great Swedish food !
The hotel is decorated in a 19th century motif, but everything is newly updated. Ask for a room that faces the front, on a higher floor. It is worth the few extra dollars to book a "superior king" room. They are nicely air-conditioned, bigger than most European hotel rooms, and many are located in the quieter parts of the hotel.
The concierge was very helpful in answering our questions and gave us the recommendations for places to eat. The hotel is located close by to the hop-on/hop-off bus. I highly recommend using it for a one to three day stay. For about $60US, per person, it covered all of our transportation needs for three days. . . a real bargain.
We would highly recommend this hotel as a great place to stay while in Stockholm. If we are ever back in Stockholm . . . it is where we will stay,
