“Nice room and great breakfast”

Stayed at Elite Park Avenue with my partner whilst we were in Gothenburg for a wedding.
Got a junior suite on the 3rd floor in the back of the hotel which was lovely with a little living area as well as the bedroom separated by a little wall with a built in plasma TV that you could rotate to face the bed or the living room.. quite clever i must say. The bathroom was nice but the shower terrible.. the design meant that there was no way of showering without spraying the whole bathroom with water. Small mistake done in the design.
The breakfast buffet was very very good. A lot of choice only wish they had a choice of coffees instead of just the brewed variety. But hey.. that is just me. :-)
I do recommend you to get a room in the back of the hotel because adjacent to the hotel is a night club..... well, i think it closes at 3am.. so if you value your sleep make sure you are far away from it.

I would definately recommend this hotel and i would be happy to stay there again.. but will probably try the Avalon next time due to better location.

I've stayed for 5 nights at this hotel and had a standard double room at ground floor. The hotel is located on the main street, a 15 minutes walk to the central railway station and there's a taxi rank just in front of the hotel. The surrounding area is full of restaurants and night clubs and gets really busy on Saturday nights, however rooms are very quiet and well isolated from exterior.
The room was completely refurbished and looked quite new, it had a large and modern lcd tv set and a cable connection to the internet, working perfectly (provided that you use Internet Explorer to make the first access).
Breakfast was very good, although restaurant can be crowded and seats become scarce.
Troubles came on the very last night, when I was woken up by carpenters working at the upper floor, at 7.30 am. I had to call the reception desk three times, before they finally paused at 8.20 am, to start working again at 9 am. It seems incredible that such a hotel can fail in this obvious tasks!

A fantastic hotel with really helpful staff. Lovely area, lovely rooms and not a thing went wrong. The rooms were large and spotless each day and were well laid out, each with an individual balcony (mine was looking towards Gothenburg's center). The bathrooms were nice, if a little small.

However, dining in the hotel is almost impossible as the restaurant is either full or booked for an event so I would recommend checking beforehand or booking early. The breakfasts at a weekend are also extremely busy.

I've stayed at several Elite hotels around sweden and at this particular one I've stayed over seven different occasions so I do have some baseline for a comparison.

Lets start with some pros and cons.
PROS
- Bishops Arms and the corner bar are really nice places, good for people watching and meeting people. Bishops arms is one of the few places in the city that cleans all pipes by them self each week plus that they do have a good selection of single malt whiskey. (They even have Port Charlotte and multiple Ardbags)
- Breakfast, good spread and healthy selections.
- Room, all rooms I've had has been clean (as expected) nicely furnished although not very ergonomical (i do work quite a lot during evenings too) Good beds and pillows, Nice bathroom.
- Location, near to most places.

CONS
- The hotel has taken over the building next to it in order to have more rooms and the internal of the hotel feels a bit like a school, not as a posh as one would expect. That is about it for negative sides.

I like this hotel, its not the most posh but like a volvo it does the trick its safe and you can depend on it

I like this place! Located right on the avenue and close to the exhibition halls it has a great charm to it. Not too small and not too big.

I very much liked the breakfast apart from the full English/American there is also a great choice of healty items to choose from.

The Brasserie was superb for dinner, it offers a a very international atmospere and and the food is classic but at the same time served in a modern way. They seem to sell alot of oysters and champagne every night of the week. Saw some very famous Swedish artists there as a theatre is next door.

I had a nice newly refurbished room with a great internet connecttion. Paid a flat fee for that but it was not too expensive.
Please note that some rooms are older, a friend that joined for the weekend got a room in a differnt corridor which although clean etc needed a refurb. Please check when making your reservation.

Reception was very efficent, I had to ask for adapters etc and it was never a problem.

Only odd thing was that there was no gym although I think they were going to add one. To their defence they did offer me to use the gym at a sister hotel.

Lastly, try the pub downstairs, they have many interesting drafts and nice food too.
