Our family of five just purchased a Volvo and have been traipsing around Sweden. We stumbled upon this gem, based on a review. We checked in unannounced late at night. The value was incredible, the showers were "turbo charged" and flowed even by American standards. The beds were comfortable. The staff completely helpful. The glass elevator was right out of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. The parking is free and there are plenty of books to choose from if you wish. It was easily accessible for people with mobility issues.

Service, service... to the mostes!!!
We found ourselves unexpectedly going to Gothenburg last weekend and I quickly booked a hotel from the airport. Hotel Ögryte seemed right what we were looking for. A bit out of center, affordable small family hotel.
Well…we hit the jackpot! Everything was good, fantastic breakfast buffet, clean, cozy room, bath, easy access to downtown with a bus that has a stop right across the street… enormelously friendly staff that helped us finding our way around. We would love to go back to this hotel if, or rather when we’ll return to Sweden. Fell in love with the country, delicious food and its friendly people!
In our haste, we left a backpack on the bus (transfer airport-city). Fortunately, my husband had his wallet in his pocket! We were a bit sad though to have lost his rather expensive sunglasses. No despair though, the hotel contacted the bus terminal (after we left, everything was closed for Easter weekend) and picked up the bag, went to the post office and mailed us the sunglasses, refusing any compensation for that!!!
So emensely impressed!!

Stayed for just few days. Fair hotel located in a quiet neighborhood. Ground level restaurant and bar-kind a small space yet enough. Liked the books one can ready on each floor. Very clean and staff was very helpful

I chose Hotel Orgryte for a three-night stay not really on a whim, but because I was planning to go to Goteborg and had found some old letterhead stationary from this hotel in the papers of a grandmother who had visited Sweden in the early 1960s, and thought, why not? My nearly serendipitous choice turned out well. The property is squeaky clean and welcoming. The free breakfast, groaning with selections of both sweet and savory, (yes, even meatballs, pickled herring, and lax), was among the best of such smorgasbords ever encountered. More on food: You can order sandwiches in the evening, which I didn't try, nor did I scout out any nearby restaurants, but there is a large ICA grocery store within a three-minute walk. My nicely sized room, which faced a back courtyard and apartment buildings, was called a "combi," meaning it had a narrow, single bed and a convertible sofa. The owners of this family-run gem seem very proud of the place, and that pride transfers into a homey feel where everyone is treated with extreme courtesy and helpfulness. The fact the hotel is not in central Goteborg actually gains points. It was a lovely anticipation to return in the evening to the quiet area, just one shortish bus ride away from the central district, after busy days exploring the bustling, tourist-packed downtown, which during my visit also saw large groups of youth soccer teams who were participating in the Gothia Cup (and many of whom were also staying at the hotel).
