This was our second visit to Spar Hotel Gårda. This time both the garage and the outside parking were full, so for the first night we had to pay in an unsecure "pay by the hour" car park. However I think it's very out of the ordinary that all the hotels parking spaces are taken.
A warning about breakfast if you're a celiac: The toaster next to the gluten free bread is NOT gluten free, I saw several people toasting regular bread in it. I don't blame them, there was just a small small sign above the toaster and it was more conveniently placed than the "regular" bread toaster. As for the regular bread: According to my husband, nothing to write home about. The rest of the breakfast was ok, very very salty bacon, watery scrambled eggs ...
The first room we got this time was very very noisy, you couldn't close to windows properly and it was facing the motorway. They gave us another room and this was very nice and quiet facing the other way. Just be aware, the walls a paperthin, so you can follow your neighbours conversation.
The rooms are very very clean.

Dear guest,

thank you for your comments, they mean a lot to us.
As you already stated, parking is normally not a problem, but during peaks the garage and outside parking is sometimes not enough. We the have several public parking spaces very Close to the hotel.
I´ll make sure that we make a better sign to inform about the gluten free toaster, to avoid this happening in the future.
All windows facing the motorway has been changed and has a 53 decibel limit, so if closed properly, you don´t hear the road at all. I´m sorry you did not fully appreciate our breakfast, I´ll discuss your comments with the kitchen staff to see what we can do to improve.
I hope to see you here again,
Kind regards

A friend and I have just returned from our stay here and it was excellent. Okay, the hotel is not located in the "centre" of town, but it's a pleasantly lazy 15 minute stroll into town or a 200 m approx walk to the tram stop, then a 3 minute tram ride (on tram number 1 or 3...tickets can be bought from the tobacco/general store next to the tram stop) to reach the centre. It's all very civilized and as two females, we felt completely safe at all times...it is Sweden after all! The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic (we could make our own waffles...YEAH!) and we ate dinner one evening in the the hotel bar and it was very nice. I am a vegetarian and the chef kindly modified my meal to suit me. There is an outdoor seating area on the first floor that was a lovely area to relax in.The staff were very friendly and most helpful in advising us on the best places to shop/have coffee/drink etc. I felt like they were very genuine in their desire to help and that nothing was too much trouble. The only disappointment was the fact that the hotel is right across from a bakery outlet and we missed the opening times! We had got our hopes set on sampling the cinnamon rolls that we had smelt cooking! We could have wept with disappointment, so check the opening times ( from memory, they are open most mornings till 1pm?). The nearby freeway caused no issues with noise. Overall, very comfortable and Gothenburg was a delight!

The Hotel is a little bit far away from the city centre BUT if you get a 3-day bike card for 25SEK there is a station 5 minutes walk from the hotel and then you'll be fine and the city centre would be near :D the hotel is clean and well equipped....and the breakfast is just HUGE ! I would suggest it !

Dear guest,

thank you for your positive comments regarding your stay. I´m glad you appreciated our breakfastbuffét. The hotel is located just next to Ullevi stadium, and you can easily reach the city center within minutes by bus, tram or indeed by bike. We also offer bikes to rent at the hotel, maybe good to know for your next visit.

Welcome back!

Was really surprised how close this hotel was to downtown Göteborg especially for the amount paid which also included parking which was an added bonus. The wifi was a little unreliable but worked for the most part. The breakfast was also quite nice and we were amazed that it was available until 12:00. For late sleepers it was great to be able to relax and still be up in time to have breakfast at the hotel. Much appreciated.

The staff was friendly and very kind. Even offering advice on things to do. The only drawback I found was that with the windows open (because it was quite warm) you could hear the freeway the whole night. I always pack ear plugs with me thankfully or I wouldn't have been able to sleep. Next time I will request a room facing the other direction.

The location is also very central. It's bout a 5 minute walk to a tram or about 15-20 mins walking to central station. The area the hotel is located in is industrial but still feels like a nice close to downtown type of hotel. Would stay here again

Dear guest,

thank you for your positive comments regarding your stay with us.
I´m glad you appreciated our long opening hours for breakfast. The hotel is as you said quite centrally located, albeit Close to a busy road. However since we put in new windows (may 2014) our guests normally won´t be disturbed by the road. But for your next visit I hope we can offer you a room facing the other way.
Welcome back!

The hotel is located right next to the highway, but still within walking distance from the city center. We couldn't hear anything of the highway.
It's modern and clean and the rooms don't lack anything. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom.
The breakfast is fantastic (Swedish hotel breakfast usually is!) with lots to choose between.
Service is good as well.

The parking (both outside and in a garage) is free, but it can be hard or impossible to find a parking spot in the evening/late afternoon.

There is an "outlet bakery" across the street that sell buns and pastry really cheap!
