I just checked in to the SAS Plaza and am thinking about checking out and staying at another hotel for my 6-day stay in Helsinki. I asked for an uprgrade and had to pay for one (expected my silver status would get me one). If this is a superior room, the regular rooms must be very small. The room is very dull, brown carpet, walls and drapes, dull green bedspread. No color anywhere, not even a flower in the lobby. The toilet is industrial and small and despite the claim for extras in the superior room, the only toiletries are shampoo and one small bottle of soap. I asked the reception for body lotion, conditioner, cotton balls, sewing kit, and the nice girl at the reception found some body lotion but not cotton balls, shoe polish (no pick up outside the door here!), sewing kit, etc. Large people should avoid this place, there is less than a meter from the end of the bed to the desk. Also avoid if you have luggage - the room is small and so is the lobby. No one met the taxi or helped with luggage - I didn't see any porters or dorrman anywhere, so you will have to lug it to your room yourself. The wifi breaks off often. The room and the hotel is very dull and not worth the money or the four-stars. The furnishing are very 40s and seem have been in use since. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is not worth the money or stars.

“Near the Railway station”

Excellent location next to Helsinki railway station. This was the reason we chose the hotel. Our room was in 7th floor and it was ok. It was quiet and relaxing, although quite small. Taxis we're easy to get from the front of the hotel and the shopping centers were just few minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was a standard Radisson buffet.

“good location, typical Radisson Standard”

the plaza is a well-located hotel right nearby the main station and the grand casino. we had a business guest room which even included a sauna in the room. coffee machine, free internet access and free ppv-movies were also included.
the only disappointing thing was the breakfast. i also stayed at the hilton in helsinki and the breakfast there is far better and there's far more choice than at the plaza.

“Typical SAS”

There's not much to say about the SAS Plaza-a typical SAS quality hotel, extremely well located next to the train station. Friendly staff, everything working well, clean, comfortable and convenient, but not a place which has anything about it you will remember for a long time.

“Well-located, comfy hotel”

We stayed at the Radisson Plaza in Helsinki over a long weekend and found it to be excellent for a short city break. We had a suite with a generous living area, comfortable sofas and a decent view. The hotel is located just behind the central train station and in the immediate proximity of the pedestrian shopping areas. The shuttle buses from the airport also stop just a stone's throw from the hotel. We found the bathroom to be a little cramped, although the fittings were of a good standard. Overall we were more than happy with our room and had a very comfortable stay in cold Helsinki!
