Very nice Hotel in Central Helsinki. Great location can walk or take a short taxi ride to most sites. If you are from the US you should book a larger room. The small business/economy rooms are acceptable for Europeans but do not live up to the expectations of US travelers.

The free breakfest buffet is excellant!

They have 2 cute red bikes to rent out for free- i took a ride at night to Kaivopuisto, that was just excellent, very good bikes! Other than that: great location, rich breakfast, comfortable beds. Seems to be a hotel for businessmen - 90% of guests were men in suits. Only problem I had was in the bathroom - after showering it flooded all over to the toilet.

We had a pleasant enough stay at the Scandic and it is very well located, but it wasn't as described on the packet!! otel.com describe it as a luxury 5 star hotel and at best it is a high 3. Our main criticism was the low standards of cleanliness (unusual in Finland )- it's tired and frayed round the edges - but as it is quite austere, it is not quite like a pair of comfy old slippers.

The location the Marski is very convenient. It is walking distance to the port and the central train station. I arrived by air, used the Finnair bus to get downtown, and walked to the hotel.

I have stayed in other Scandic hotels and have found them to be consistently good. As is the case for the Marski, you get a good breakfast and free wireless internet. No complaints about the room. Hilton Honors members also get free fruit, water, and vouchers that can be used food and drinks in the hotel.

I hope the new owners of Scanic (it was recently sold by Hilton) intend to maintain the current positioning of the chain.
