The hotel is in a great central location. The rooms are clean and reasonably well equipped but don't expect luxury. My room was a single but the bed was huge. There was only a shower available and the bathroom was tiny but it was enoug as long as you don't need to spend a lot of time there. The hotel was very busy and people come and go at all times of night however they seem to put all the noisy people on one floor (we were on a stag do and all on the same floor). Restaurant food is average but there is plenty of it.

I was impressed that a hotel of this price would have a swimming pool in the basement - I was less impressed at how cold it was but I think that is the Finnish way.

Stayed at the Cumulus Koskikatu on a weekend. It was my first stay in this Cumulus hotel. The location is excellent, just next to the main street Hämeenkatu, however on a very quiet back street facing the Tammerkoski stream.

The hotel lobby area furniture is outdated but in reasonably good shape. I booked a Superiour room in the upper floor. The room was rather spacious, however felt very outdated and in need of some renovation. The bathroom was clean and decent with a big shower cabin.

There's a pool in the Cumulus however it's only open during evenings, so no mornings swimming is possible.

The breakfast was what you'd expect however the service there was bad, staff neglected to pick up the used plates from the tables - the restaurant was almost empty but there was only one or two "free" tables!

All in all a definite 3-star experience with a 4-star price tag.

If you're fine with a little more action / noisy guests, I'd recommend the cheaper 4-star Sokos Hotel Ilves down the road. The lobby area, rooms and pool area are clearly better. A similarly priced Scandic Tampere City is also more up-to-date than the Cumulus Koskikatu. It's situated opposite to the railway station.

Well one of the best value Hotels I have stayed. Staff extrmely helpful and friendly. Breakfast magnificant. Location fantastic. This is a great hotel to stay.

We had the very good fortune to book the Cumulus Koskikatu for a two-night stay in Tampere for business. This is not a luxury hotel, but instead a great value down-to-business hotel with a fantastic free breakfast. Overall, the atmosphere was comfortable, practical, and no nonsense. Midweek customers were predominantly business travelers; not many families. American business travelers expecting luxury will need to readjust their expectations to fit the northern European preference for comfortable simplicity.

My room was spacious, basic, and comfortable. It included a large LCD TV that received only a few channels (~15 + pay-per-view), a desk, and a closet with iron and ironing board. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was tastefully appointed, with large squeeze bottles of hand soap, shampoo, and gel body wash attached to the walls (this is more convenient than it sounds). My room had a stall shower.

The in-room internet (plug-in only on most floors; just plug the provided cord into your computer) had problems during our stay. Normally, the price is listed at 5 Euros per 24 hours, but I was never charged (perhaps due to the problems). Hotel staff acknowledged the interruption and graciously provided prepaid Sonera WiFi internet access cards at no cost (normally 10 Euros per 24 hours, I think). WiFi works on some floors, the lobby, and the restaurant.

The complete breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. Everything I tried was excellent, including warm and cold meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, yogurt, cereal, and juices.

I recommend this hotel for business travelers and also families who are looking for good value and a great, free breakfast. Enjoy!
