If you want a hotel located near central Reykjavik but quiet and away from the port, then this is the hotel for you. The rooms are modern, kept well and feature free wireless internet. All the amenities you could ask from for a four star hotel, my only complaints about the hotel is really a group of guests that had come for an event. They were loud and up late, smoking in the hallway since smoking was not allowed in the rooms. But I called the hotel reception and they sent someone up to take care of it. The downtown area is a short 10 minute walk from the hotel, you don't need a car or taxi just some comfortable shoes.

The staff was a bit difficult to figure out. My travel companion left a passport in the original room we were given before we switched, and instead of sending someone up with it to the room, they sent a message to the television which we never saw until about two days later because we didn't watch television.

Nothing wrong with this place - however would have loved a swimming pool!
Huge breakfast buffet - be sure to eat plenty as the prices elsewhere will break the bank.
Rooms were good - if not cleaned too well in between nights.
We stayed for 6 nights (watching NI get beaten at football) and found all to be ok.
Walk into town takes about 10 minutes.
Remember the museum next door is free on Wednesdays and has quite a good coffee bar!
Take your credit card - there is an ATM outside thew hotel and enjoy.
"Icelandic fish and chips" by the harbour is fantastic food! and if you have soup at "Perlan" you get free refills too.

Hotel is very tired by Radisson standards. Noisy nightclub next to the hotel which makes the location of room a lottery if you want to sleep.

“A little disappointed”

We spent 2 days at the Saga and were a little disappointed. I expected all of the amenities and service of a first class hotel but they seemed understaffed. We weren't able to check in when we arrived and were tired from traveling. We walked around for a few hours and returned when they told us to, but our room still wasn't ready and the desk staff wasn't very nice about it. The room was pretty but nothing special and the bathroom was small. I was surprised to find that breakfast wasn't included with our room. As the breakfast buffet (at $25 per person) was the only option, this made the cost of staying there much more than we'd expected. Dinner was very good, though also pricey.
The location is great- a very pleasant 10 minute walk to downtown. But if you don't mind walking, you'll get more for your money at the Hotel Nordica or Loftleidir. The Saga is pretty, but the staff won't make you feel special.

I stayed here in a triple room with my friends and what can i say, the hotel was nice very near the main street (5/10 minute walk) the area is very clean, abit like ghost town though as no one realy goes out as its so exspensive, but if you have never been to iceland i would say go!!!!
The food was hit and miss althou found a nice italian restuarant near the harbour called: Hornid (hafnarstraeti 15 101 reykjavik iceland) Halldora was a very nice waiter who served us, they give you nice food and very good portions for your money! i only reccomend this restuarant and if you go try the Cognac Lobster soup and the pizza and apple cake yum....yum
i would also recomend the blue lagoon and doing the golden cirle tour wich u can bk very easily even at last minute i.e night before you decide to go! also ba flight landed at 9:30am and the bearu de change closes at 9:30am! very silly so make sure you change enough money for 1 day (£100 to start should be fine for dinner/taxi/transfer) and change rest at the hotel as you will get a better rate than if you take out of their ATM
hope this helps and
.P.s if you drink make sure you buy drinks at the airport before you go to your hotel (buying at supermarket is likes two/three times the price)
Many thanks and enjoy
