Well what a difference 18 months has made to Iceland. I was last in Reykjavik in Aug 2008 and could hardly afford to breathe the air. But in that time the Icelandic krona has crashed. Bad news for Icelanders but great for the tourist. Never has there been a better time to see this amazing country and meet its fabulously warm and friendly (if a little eccentric) people. But I digress the Hotel Bjork is situated about 10-15 minutes walk from the main hub and centre of Rejkyavik. Close enogh to get to where you need but far enough to be nice and quiet at night. The rooms were of an average size with no frills. The beds were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was compact with only room for a walk in shower and no bath, but that was fine for me. Although the weather turned cold at night the heating was excellent and kept me nice and snug. The attached resteraunt was a little limited in choice, but it was good value and very pleasant and certainly worth a try if you cant be bothered to go searching reykjavik. However what sets this Hotel apart from many others is the level of service from the reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were full of helpful advice and insights into Iceland. At just over £200 for the 4 nights it was excellent value and i would certainly consider using this hotel again....and I shall certainly visit this fantastic Island again. Thank You Iceland
