This hotel is perfectly located, very modern, clean and nice. I stayed with a mate and the stay itself was actually fine, but there was a bit of drama subsequent to our stay...

My friend, who paid for the room on his credit card, was overcharged by around 50 EUR for using the hotel bar (which we never did). Naturally, he brought this to the management's attention (a week or so after we left Iceland) and, following a series of accusations (including suggesting we were too drunk to remember - we weren't), saying they'd check the security footage etc. etc. and several phone calls, they eventually refunded the excess charge. So, that was all a little dissapointing.

Nevertheless, like I said the actual stay was great. The location is fantastic, although the close proximity to some bars did make it a little noisy one night, but no big deal. The included breakfast was great, although the place is quite expensive (but maybe normal for Reykjavik).

I'd give management the benefit of the doubt and suggest they just made an honest mistake with the room charge and then didn't really know what to do about it when my friend challenged it...

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the CenterHotel Thingholt. Very trendy and modern decor, and clean. The staff were generally helpful. Centrally located. We asked for a quiet room, and were accommodated on the top floor, which was indeed quiet, even on the weekend. Our particular room had an angled ceiling, which was an issue once for my taller husband, but not a big deal. The bathroom had a frosted glass wall and no ventilation, which was the biggest complaint. Found the ethernet connection to be incredibly slow at times, but then again you're on vacation (hopefully), right? Buffet breakfast was pretty much the same every day, as others mentioned, but perfectly suitable. Liked the croissants and pastries in particular.

The interior is extremely trendy and everything looks brand new. It's located 20 meters from the main shopping street in Reykjavik and you can't ask for a better locations. I've read some of the other reviews, complaining about staff and noise from the night liife. I can't recognize this, since the staff was perfect and we had rather quiet room. With a hotel located so central there will always be some kind of noise, but this wasn't really a problem.

Parking was no problem outside the hotel and it's cheap as well. The parking meter accepts credit cards.

I will recommend this hotel to everybody.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights, and mostly enjoyed it. The best part about it is th elocation, which about as central to the heart of Reykjavik as you can get. You can get to almost anything you need -- the art museum, shopping restaurants, the harbor -- by walking there. The staff was very helpful and nice. The breakfast, which was included, was small but tasty, and the dining room was very tastefully decorated.

About the decor: it's pretty severe leather chic. From the lobby to the hallway to the rooms, there's lots of leather furniture, animal prints, concrete and faux-concrete walls, minimalist sinks, black curtains and strikingly dark art. It doesn't so much say "Welcome" as it does "Spank Me." Which can be good or bad, depending on your taste.

The rooms are small, by American standards, but the showers are just beautifully designed, if wood and concrete minimalism is to your liking.
