I booked Sofitel in Luxembourg for a weekend-stay and I would like to recommend it very much. There was a summer festival in the town of Luxembourg, that was within a few steps away from the hotel, excellent location as the shops, cinemas and cultural
centre is at the stone throw. In the evening we enjoyed the chilling out in the top floor bar, the place to be I think with unique view of Luxembourg.
The room was very large and I enjoyed very much the rain shower and what I found absolutely great was a nespresso machine in our room.
I missed SPA facilities, but there is a small gym with a virtual trainer.
The hotel is really cool and I have to stay the best hotel I have ever stayed at.

There are two five star Sofitel hotels in Luxembourg, but this newer hotel is a lot more stylish and in a better location, walking distance from the city centre shops and scenes in the heart of Luxembourg. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to experience the city for the first time and doesn't have their own transport, as the main train station and bus stops are less than ten minutes walk away. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby and great scenes over the city from Mango, the hip new rooftop cocktail bar at this Sofitel. Even the lobby looks like a modern art museum here, it's very trendy.
Soft drinks are all complimentary in the mini bars in the rooms which is very rare, but a great idea as I am so sick of seeing the rip-off prices for mini bar drinks in hotels. Alcoholic drinks are not supplied in the mini bars here, you have to order room service or go to the bar to drink. My room was huge and had great views over Luxembourg. There is no bath tub, but a big power shower and large bathroom area and excellent free toiletries. The decor in the rooms is stylish and arty, but comfortable. I enjoyed my stay here and would visit again if I ever need to return to Luxembourg.

My wife and i stayed at this hotel for a long weekend for her birthday. When we arrived we were quite supprised by the lobby of the hotel, it is modern and not quite what we were expecting (should have read some of the tripadvisor reviews first). They have valet parking, which mean the doorman drives your car round the corner to the public car park.

The lifts are quite interesting, the lights change colour on every floor. And they always seem to be with you very quickly, i guess because the hotel was not that busy when we stayed.

We had an upgraded room so we had a lovely view over the valleys. Yes the rooms are modern, but they are very well appointed and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The free mini bar (soft drinks) was a great touch.

The glass shower in the room, was interesting, be wary if you are shy with the person you are travelling with, althought the shower its self was tremendous, could have spent allday in there.

The bar is quite expensive, we paid €50 for 4 drinks (GnT / VnT) before we read the menu. The local 'champagne' was great for €30 per bottle rather than €35 per glass for Moet & Chandon !

Coming from the UK you forget about places that still allow you to smoke in bars, we did find the bar very smokey after coming in for an apres dinner drink, better ventialation would have been better. The bar is great, comfy chairs, very friendly bar staff, good nibbles and also a resident DJ if you are in that place on a Friday and Saturday night.

Breakfast was the only disapointing experiance within the whole hotel. The selection was quite poor and there was no hot food offered. Made even worse by thinking i booked a room rate with Breakfast when in fact i hadnt. They charged €30 per person for 2 croissant and a slice of ham and cheese - Riddiculous ! However i do accept it was my fault i should have checked the rate, but the prices are crazy for what you get.

Location is great, some building working going on next door but you dont notice it. 10 minutes from the old town, across the bridge or 10 minutes from the Grund (Bottom of the valley, nice out doors bars for a drink by the river)

Overall this was one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in for a long time, good friendly staff, good location. Shame about the bar & breakfast prices.

I will definetely stay here again, hope it stays this nice.

This hotel has the best designed rooms I have ever stayed in. Well, some people maybe will not like that cool design, but I loved it. The modern design starts in the lobby continue in the elevator, the rooms, bathrooms and the bar on the top floor. The rooms are very nice designed: the shower is RIGHT in the middle of the room !!!! Must be fun to go there with a girl you just know very short :-) Well, I was by myself :-( You have a great plasma TV in the room, the beds are very nice to sleep in!!! The staff in the hotel is very friendly. At night you have to go to the bar on the top floor of the hotel. Very nice people even from outside of the hotel, and the view is very nice. Too bad I didn't bring my camera with me, because the design of the hotel is very hard to write about. But if you like nice, modern cool design you will just love the Sofitel. The hotel itself isn't very big and so is the lobby, but this is no minus for this nice hotel.

Stayed one night at the hotel and being a loyal Sofitel customer was expecting true service....
This wasnt the case at the luxembourg hotel. Although recently opened you would expect some issues but this was ridiculous! They made me move room due to an error on their side and I had to pack my stuff without any assistance.
Found the breakfast a joke with little choice (cheeses etc.) and service, awful coffee and snotty staff.
Dined at the restaurant which took forever...luke warm dishes, overpriced and of poor quality

Wont return.....
