We arrived late at night but was allocated a nice room overlooking the HUGE pool and beach. Clean, spacious but shower a bit pathetic. We were on H/B basis and had to hike from the main hotel to the restaurant area past the bungalows everyday (not for people with walking difficulties) for breakfast and dinner which is all buffet style. Good choice for breakfast but dinner became repetitive and boring and the food was never kept hot. A couple of days into our stay, we were informed the hotel was having a conference from "Turkcell" mobile phone company and that they would be there for 3 days. The only way I can describe their arrival is being "beseiged" by 1000 or more delegates, all young locals who took over the complex completely. The restaurant was turned into a free-for-all "bunfight" and unless you are into fighting for your food, I would make sure you check before arriving if the hotel has another booked. It was a relief when they had all gone that you could actually eat in peace and get a sunbed and relax. That's until the building work started adjacent to our room. There are extensions being built to the main hotel, restaurant and pool area and it was very apparent by the building noise (hammers, drills, lorries coming&going etc) which echoed around the pool area. The work is not due to finish until the winter. We used the courtesy bus to go into town which was 60p and v.efficient. Town centre is a bit hectic but we chose a restaurant called "NIAZI's" opp.the Dome Hotel which serves fabulous food and was recommended to us. Don't bother with any around the main harbour. They were overpriced and dirty most of them. Overall, I would not return to Northern Cyprus. It's littered with burnt-out cars, construction everywhere and generally looks tatty. It's a work in progress to catch up with the South but will take many years to get there and when the hotels are advertised as 5 stars.....take my word for it that they are not!

Me and my party spent 10,000 + on a holiday to the acapulco - which included my wedding....

It was not a nice experience and i will just list a few reasons why.

1. when we arrived having paid extra for the sea view rooms we were all given the wrong rooms infact they all had sea view but about 1 % in the very corner of your balcony if you lean accross............. when we complained we were told they are sea view and thats that! not interested in your complaints they laugh and say 'its not my problem!'

2. Woodwork in hotel is scratched to bits, carpets stained, Walls in some rooms have damp patches or massive cracks in the wall.

3. Bathroom shower head no good and curtain not big enough - bathroom flooded every day

4. Service at poolside bar and restaurant non existant - about 10 members of staff stood around chatting - i had to walk over to them and ask them to serve us.

5. 9 out of 10 food orders came wrong (either 1 extra dish we never ordered and they still want you to pay for - or a couple of dishes missing meaning everyone had to eat at different times)

6. Champagne and fruit was ordered and paid for by my fiance in reception to be delivered to my room before wedding - it never came and it was there the next day dried up and warm......... reception staff insisted they would not give us a refund again the gentleman said 'dont shout at me - its not my problem (after days of complaining it was removed from bill but not until we had whinged and stressed ourselves out on what we wanted to be a relaxing, quiet honeymoon).

7. Parking spaces are reserved for Casino goers (Casino Goers always get prioriry) And hotel guests have to spend ages looking for a parking space.

8.Mini bar and drinks / food in hotel is very expensive

9. When my bill come at the end of the week it had about 5 items that we didnt have - including 2 turkish baths - when we disputed it the lady from the baths came to reception and said she remebered us personally.......... this was a lie and eventually again after hours of screaming it was removed.....(check your bill thoroughly).

10. On the weekends the hotel is packed with locals and when i say packed i mean packed - no sun loungers by pool, no sun loungers on beach, nowhere to sit in restaurant...... basically you sit in you room or go out for 2 days....

11. its very far from town 25 min drive

There are good points to this hotel and i am not a tourist who is never pleased as we have visited turkey and north cyprus on many occasions and have always been happy.

Good Points

Beach is lovely, Sea is lovely, it has tennis courts, breakfast and dinner ok - altho i much preferred to eat out! Late staff in hotel lobby bar really friendly and efficient, Maids are great.....

This hotel has no management - if it were better managed and the above points were dealt with (basically customer relations/services) it wold be a fantastic hotel right on the seafront and a great pool - but it would have to change its policies greatly before i visited again!

“Catering for the masses”

We booked first two weeks in October - a sea-view room in the main hotel. Best rooms are even numbers overlooking hotel terrace and sea. Odd numbers overlook the pool. We upgraded 2nd week to a suite at a cost of £250 but it was worth it - superb room and views. Avoid the villas if possible - cheaper, but dark inside and a little remote from the hotel.
The standard rooms are nothing special but are kept clean.
The hotel has a large lobby with bar, TV and a section with 'arcade' type machines, plus two pool tables. The outside terracing is very pleasant. The pool is excellent - plenty of room and OK for non swimmers. The beach also good - plenty of sunbeds. Sea inviting and warm but does get a bit choppy at times. Lifeguard in attendence.

The restaurant overlooking the sea was closed so we confined to the basement. Seating arranged in formal rows - forget having an intimate meal! The food is definitely 'catering for the masses' - buffet style breakfast and dinner. The plates were rarely warm. The food was somewhat 'continental' - fried eggs were available for breakfast but everything else was very spicy. There was a large selection of cold meats and cheeses. A glass of fresh orange juice was charged at approx. £2! The toaster was useless. A reasonable selection for dinner, usually beef, veal or chicken dishes. Sometimes fish was available but very dry and uninteresting. Vegetables when available were overcooked. The kitchen staff tried very hard to keep the food topped up. A local wine was available at approx. £8 but was poor - you had to spend a bit more to get something half reasonable.
Here's a tip - remember to guard your plates!! The staff are incredibly 'efficient' and collect the plates with gusto. If you leave the table your plate will be collected, regardless of whether you have finished or not! My wife and I took it in turns to visit the buffet.

There are two eating places outside by the pool and the beach. These serve 'fast food' - pizzas, chicken, kebabs etc. - self service

There is no where to get a decent cup of tea or coffee - you are served with a small cup of hot water and either a teabag or a sachet of coffee.

English was spoken but very poor in many areas. The best english was spoken at reception. Friendliness was 'mixed' , overall not very warm.

A bus service is available through the day to Kyrenia - takes about 15 minutes. Taxi cost about £6. We walked it one day - it took over two hours and the lack of a proper pavement made it very dangerous!
There are some excellent restaurants around the harbour with a good choice of fresh fish. We took two meals there - I wish we were B&B, we would have taken all our meals there.

Summary - definitely not 5 star. Food average (some guests rated it as poor). In truth, I suffered from indigestion most of the time. Service reasonable but not over friendly. Rooms clean. Ideal for beach holiday but I wouldn't want to be there at the height of the season. The hotel is a bit isolated. My wife and I like to go for walks but this was not possible.

Would I go again? Very unlikely!!

We have stopped 4 times at the Club Acapulco and enjoyed every visit.
We prefer the hotel to the bungalows.
The staff are courteous and helpful.
The beach is great and the pool well looked after.
The food is very good however the drinks are a bit pricey.
