The Dome Hotel, as someone else described it, is "Faded Grandeur" at its best! It certainly comes from a bygone age but the Art Deco glass windows are beautiful. My husband has a mobility scooter so I had asked for a large room, which is certainly what we got! We were on the front of the hotel, overlooking the town, so it was obviously noisy and we used the air conditioning all the time. Most of the time it worked wonderfully, except one night when it was turned off! When I enquired why there was no AC I was told that "it had been turned off at the discretion of the Manager"!!!!!!!! My tour operator, whom I telephoned at 8.00 am the next morning, sorted this out immediately and everything was fine. She was told that there had been a fault! Not what I had been told the night before!

From the hotel website I saw that rooms were equipped with tea and coffee making facilities but, on arrival, they were not there. I was told by one of the rather unhelpful desk staff that these were only provided in suites! I then saw the Manager and, after finding the website on his computer, he agreed to provide a kettle/cups/tea/coffee immediately.

The decor and facilities in the rooms are fine - a bit slapdash and drab, but clean and comfortable, etc. The pressure on the shower was so weak that you had to run around under it to get wet!

We travelled with another couple and they changed their room three times! First room was like a cupboard. Second room was situated beside some sort of boiler and they could hear it fire up all day and night! Third room was fine.

Staff at the hotel in the dining rooms, bars, etc, were wonderful - so kind, friendly and helpful, which is more than can be said for the Reception Desk staff. A special mention must go to the little guy down by the pool who ran around giving out towels, sunbeds etc, and who also delivered drinks/food from the cafe directly to your sunbed table. I really feel that he deserves a big bonus - he did the work of a dozen men and always with a smile.

The sea-pool was a big hit - what a great idea. Worth mentioning here that the last step down to the sea-pool can be very slippery - take care! The hotel has the most wonderful situation, being in the heart of the town and within easy strolling distance from the harbour/town/etc. Loved it!

Have just got back from 2 weeks at the Dome and thoroughly enjoyed my stay...The relaxing atmosphere around the hotel and the friendly attentive Staff helped make my stay very enjoyable...The breakfast will suit all tastes as there is something for everyone and the Bar and Staff were the friendliest and kindest I have come across..
Add the best location in Kyrenia(some of the Hotels were miles from the harbour and centre)and all in all you have a 1970's type Hotel that is value for money and a cracking holiday destination.....
The only thing negative to say about Kyrenia was that some of the Harbour Restaurants were over priced and average...If you want a top Turkish meal with a fantastic menu, then head for Beyti just out of the centre(5 minute walk)..Walking up to it you pass all the Cafes frequented by men playing backgammon and eating Kebabs but when you get to the restaurant, you'll have the best food at the cheapest price....

We have just returned from 2 weeks spent at the Dome Hotel, after reading some of the review's from previous guests we were a bit apprehensive. We need not have worried. Our room was comfortable and a generous size for the two of us - yes the bathroom suite was 1970's but clean and the shower worked all temperatures - not that hot was needed as the weather was really hot. Air-con in the room was very good you could have a fridge temp if you wanted but the lowest setting suited us. The pool area was very clean - yes there is concrete around the sea pool area but what else could there have been - tarmac certainly not. Just remember to wear your flip-flops!! The interior of the hotel was very good, certainly very clean maybe over the winter period they may like to give the exterior as coat of paint to finish the job. The breakfast would suit all tastes - the eggs if you wanted them are cooked [not the boiled] freshly while you wait. The evening buffet offered plenty of choice. I would recommend a stay there.

We booked through a last-minute package deal, originally for the Altinkaya, but we were very glad our deal was changed before departure to the Dome.
If you want smart, cutting edge, boutique-style it's not for you.
I liked it though. It's a bit dowdy, like a favourite aunt, but the staff and service are good, the bar and public rooms pleasant, good choice at breakfast buffet, location unrivalled, pool and rockpool very pleasant, with loungers and umbrellas always on hand, room a decent size, everything working, and efficient air con which is not noisy. OK, carpets seem a bit out of place in 40 C heat, and if you expect its 1930s origin means deco architecture you'll be disappointed. We like smart hotels, but at the price we paid we've got no complaints.
The more mature clientele with very few children suited us perfectly.
There is only one other hotel - much classier as far as you can tell from the public areas - which rivals the Dome's location, and that is Rocks. We dropped into Rocks most evenings for an after dinner drink or afternoon tea.
The Dome is a very short walk from the lovely harbour and pleasant streets behind it.
The restaurants of Kyrenia are generally overrated, but the rooftop restaurant at the upmarket Colony is good. Book a massage there, and use its spa/rooftop pool facilities for the day.

“Dirty and tired hotel”

Dome Hotel and Casino Kyrenia

We arrived at the hotel and were checked into a room that at best could be described as 2 star, there were holes in the carpet from wear and cigarette burns, the mini bar had what can at best be described as fungus growing in it, there were coffee stains on the chair and a shower that was both old and dirty. The main light in the bedroom did not work. The bed linen had a hole that you could put your fingers through and the curtains and not been cleaned in quite some time.

We asked to move to another room and were given a room on the same corridor as we went to check the alternative room we noticed the damp in the ceiling in the corridor.

The next room was equally as bad the wardrobe would not open the bed linen again had holes in it, again some holes in the carpet and some of the mini bar drinks had no labels and again the fridge was dirty with a brown mould. The shower was still dirty.

At this point we called our travel agent and they sent a rep to the hotel that was very helpful and agreed with our decision to move after seeing the photographs, (he was not allowed up to see the rooms as it was against hotel policy)
