WOW!!!!!!!!!
The hotel staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and spacious. our room was facing inland and we looked out over the busy streets which we really enjoyed sitting out on an evening watching the world go by. the pool was nice but the sea pool was fantastic, we saw people snorkelling and decided we would have a go although i was a little nervous about sea monsters :o) snorkelling in the sea pool was amazing and no sign of monsters. the food at the hotel was lovelly (all the squeaky cheese you can eat for breakfast) BRANDY SOURS yum yum!!! the hotel is situated perfect for kyrenia bay shops, castle, resteraunts and bars, all of which are extemely cheap. next to the hotel is a taxi rank, on the 2nd day we went to the market, the taxi was very cheap and he waited for us to finish shopping to take us back to the hotel (he did not charge for hanging around) everytime we went for a taxi the same man dealt with us.
the sight seeing in kyrenia is very good. the abbey on the hill is beautiful, the castle in the mountain has amazing views of the bay and rolling hills as has kyrenia castle. all in all it was the best holiday we have been on and are looking forward to returning next year.
fingers crossed we might see some turtles.

I have stayed in the Dome about half a dozen times and have never failed to be satisfied. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. The rooms are fine though the plumbing is a bit tired. Its location is perfect. All in all I can thoroughly resommend it. I have stayed in other hotels in Kyrenia - the Altinkaya and the Olive Tree, but now I always go back to the Dome.

This hotel clearly uses two types of quality rooms. Refurbished and non refurbished. Having booked a sea view and expecting something that resembled the pictures in the brochure, we thought we had arrived at the wrong hotel. The room was small, decor very poor, bathroom had plastic mirror and shelf covered in cigarette burns , and to top it all, damp sheets and pillows on the bed. The dining room and evening/breakfast meals have previously been described as something from a Pontins camp of an earlier era-i think that sums it up just right!

When we complained about the quality of the room after arriving and requesting to be re-allocated to a better room-we received a smile and a not too suprised look from the duty manager who said "I will get you into better rooms tommorow-but not tonight".
It said it all for us.

This is undoubteldly the worst hotel experience I've had yet.

Having travelled extensively and stayed in a variety of types of accommodation ranging from hostels to 5 star hotels, words cannot express what I saw in what is classed as a "4 star" hotel.

Perhaps the warning signs came early when we arrived at the hotel and noticed the neon sign on its roof which wasn't working properly.

Walking into this hotel is like stepping into a Butlins from the 1950's. The first thing you notice is the layers of cigarette smoking coming from the dining room and the tacky music coming out of it.

We then went to our rooms to drop our bags off - the lift looked like it was about to fall to pieces - the rooms were shocking - the sheets were still damp, the bathroom was filthy, the shower was either extremely hot or cold and the air conditioning didn't work. If you also suffer from a bad back, forget staying here as the mattress on the bed was shocking. We told the hotel staff that we wanted to move rooms and they did not seem surprised at all - their reaction suggested to us that we're not the only ones to have made this complaint.

We then went to dinner. And soon left to go to a restaurant in town. The food does not bear thinking about and is perhaps summarised by my experience at breakfast when my boiled egg was so under-cooked, it would definitely have led to food poisioning. The waiters didn't seem to care.

Having raised our concerns to our rep, we were soon moved to the Bellapais Monastery Village - the same star rating but a different class of a hotel.

I never complain about my accommodation and am not fussy but on this occasion, I have to let others know about this place. Those who write positively about this place or who didn't have a problem with the hotel when we spoke to them fall into 3 categories:

1. People on last minute holiday bargains.
2. OAPs.
3. A gang of elderly friends who come to this hovel year after year.

Sorry to be so negative but it really is that bad and no one should have to have their holiday and hard-earned money ruined on such a place.

The Dome Hotel, as someone else described it, is "Faded Grandeur" at its best! It certainly comes from a bygone age but the Art Deco glass windows are beautiful. My husband has a mobility scooter so I had asked for a large room, which is certainly what we got! We were on the front of the hotel, overlooking the town, so it was obviously noisy and we used the air conditioning all the time. Most of the time it worked wonderfully, except one night when it was turned off! When I enquired why there was no AC I was told that "it had been turned off at the discretion of the Manager"!!!!!!!! My tour operator, whom I telephoned at 8.00 am the next morning, sorted this out immediately and everything was fine. She was told that there had been a fault! Not what I had been told the night before!

From the hotel website I saw that rooms were equipped with tea and coffee making facilities but, on arrival, they were not there. I was told by one of the rather unhelpful desk staff that these were only provided in suites! I then saw the Manager and, after finding the website on his computer, he agreed to provide a kettle/cups/tea/coffee immediately.

The decor and facilities in the rooms are fine - a bit slapdash and drab, but clean and comfortable, etc. The pressure on the shower was so weak that you had to run around under it to get wet!

We travelled with another couple and they changed their room three times! First room was like a cupboard. Second room was situated beside some sort of boiler and they could hear it fire up all day and night! Third room was fine.

Staff at the hotel in the dining rooms, bars, etc, were wonderful - so kind, friendly and helpful, which is more than can be said for the Reception Desk staff. A special mention must go to the little guy down by the pool who ran around giving out towels, sunbeds etc, and who also delivered drinks/food from the cafe directly to your sunbed table. I really feel that he deserves a big bonus - he did the work of a dozen men and always with a smile.

The sea-pool was a big hit - what a great idea. Worth mentioning here that the last step down to the sea-pool can be very slippery - take care! The hotel has the most wonderful situation, being in the heart of the town and within easy strolling distance from the harbour/town/etc. Loved it!
