We booked a 17 day trip to this hotel, and on arrival found the village to be lovely. We started off in a hotel room on half board, but after our first dinner discovered that we had made a big mistake, and switched to a self catering villa. Do not go half board, even with a 2.35 exchange rate it is cheaper to eat out, even in the most expensive places. The hotel it's self was lovely and the reception staff great, but unfortunately the rest of the staff let the place down considerable. Accommodation basic, with no frills. Pool area lovely if it wasn't for the bar man playing his drooning turkish music all day which got progressive louder, so if you want to relax, find a beach! Oh and the sun beds were softer than the beds in the rooms!

All in all we did have a lovely holiday, the weather was fantastic. We are a middle aged pair who like to travel and see the world but prefer to make our own entertainment, this quite hotel would have been ideal.

This is more about the area around Girne than the hotel. Holiday companies are still advertising North Cyprus as an unspoiled paradise which is a downright lie at the moment. Investment funds have arrived from somewhere and there is building going on all along the coast for miles on either side of Girne, the main tourist destination. When it is finished it may look bright and modern but at the moment it is definitely not any sort of paradise.
Having said that the Onar Village hotel is one of the best in its price range and I see no reason why any UK visitors should be disappointed if they choose it. It has its own website which is attractive and truthful so I won't say more about the hotel. I don't add any photos because mine are all of the 'nice' bits.
