We were there for only seven days and agree with 90% of what was said in the previous review having met the cuple involved, we booked 8 weeks before and got a 10% discount with Cyprus Paradise 'early summer break' and used this to get a pool view rooom , I am glad we did as this afforded late afternoon sun, although the pool was a little away from the balcony it was very pleasent. If ever there ia an index published of squre metres of pool per guest this hotel would be in the top 100 in the world, there are also 2 jackos, one by the beach pool, and one indoors.
Lapta is 10 miles fron Girne (Kyrenia) but it is right on the 'Dolmus' route to the city, we found these very good and it cost 1.75YTL to get in and out of the centre, the drivers are very good at looking for custom and the horns will be sounded from 500 metre away to ask if you need picking up. Also do not be surprissed if one which has just passed stops 500 metres further on and reverses back if you respond to its indicators, hand signals and lights. At Girne ' the contoller for Dolmuses' will yell out Lapta Lapta Lapta and drag anyone in of the pavement to fill the bus so you will get back ok, each time slightly diiferreant route as people seem to ring up on the drivers mobiles for them to be picked up, The LA hotel is at end or the route where the buses come back fown from Lapta.
The LA ( named after the original owner which I may spell wrong if I go from memory) does half board, if you are a meat & 2 veg traditional brit you may not like the food , but there was always soup, over 30 meze dishes and two main courses plus a single option sweet , you either had local beer wine or water with the meal at very reasonable prices the dining room is on the first floor or looking over the pool (note steps up to it). The atmosphere somtimes was lacking ( one CD which had Slade, T Rex and the Beatles was played everynight - we joked about it with them) , but part of this is a problem in many brits go down to eat and out in the same manner as if they are in in a Little Chef, you are on holiday !!! the very pleasent staff were happy to try and explain the dishes /take photographs have banter, linger a little and enjoy the experience.
We went on two trips with Cyprus Paradise which were very good and ate at lunchtime at the Serenda cafe near the mini market which is run by an English lady and Rose's to the West where we had fresh fish all very good.
The underpass to the beach was very forsighted when built and we got great views of the sunset over the sea in the evenings whilst most guests were changing for dinner. I have to say all the staff were excellant in looking after you and we were very pleased with our choice of the LA hotel and Cyprus Paradise for the holiday, which was value for money and one where we will return again in the future.
