We (my mum and myself) have just returned from a week at the Vaha Spa. It was a fantastic holiday, if you are looking for absolute peace and quiet and a holiday that completely eliminates stress then this is the place for you.

The food was top class, the spa treatments fantastic, we booked several more treatments than just the massages that were included in our 7 days package! Amazingly we even went all week without touching alcohol (although available if required) as we decided to completely detox - we are both now full of energy and very chilled out.

All of the staff were helpful and Gill and Steve acted as superb hosts.

Highly recommend this to others, I was a little apprehensive at first due to being a man and going on holiday with my mum!! However, is a great place for men and women of all ages.

“Blissful bolthole”

I've just come back from the Vaha Spa after a 7 day break. It looked fairly impressive from the website but i wasn't prepared for what i found, which is a jewel of a place. It's set in a beautiful location of lemon groves with a backdrop of spectacular mountains with a view of the sea. The accomodation is luxurious simplicity. There are 6 detached residences which have wrap around balconies with comfy armchairs so that you can have sun or shade according to your preference. Light and airy with all the mod cons including flat screen TVs for when you want to relax at night with the latest offerings from the DVD library. The accommodation is,like everything else, thoughful with every convenience catered for, down to English plug sockets and plug in mosquito repellants. The food is fantastic: the creation of the young dynamic chef who comes from a michelin starred background. It's healthy but far from dull. If you want to sit there sipping detox smoothies you can, but this is no bootcamp. I tended to opt for the extensive wine list or a nicely mixed Cosmopoltan. The spa area comprising of the treatment rooms, relaxation room and pool is just wonderful. Again, understated luxury. I indulged in the daily treatments which were carried out by therapists trained to the advanced Espa level. Then there was the yoga, taught by Sagar who has his background in Goa. He was great as he made the effort to find out about your life, personal stresses and tailormade sessions which were designed to help you. Finally, I come to the staff, hosts/ owners. Led by Gill and Steve, it is the friendliness and professionalism of the team which really make this place. Nothing is too much trouble. This place is their creation and they really want you to enjoy it. I left feeling like I had had a real break and knowing that I had found a little oasis that I would most definitely want to come back to. I've never written a review good or bad on a place before. But this little gem compelled me to do so.

“Incredibly wonderful”

Vaha Spa & Health Club

I travel a lot and I thought I knew that hotels are never as good as their websites suggest, that the photos are all taken from some odd angle making everything look better than it really is and that the reviewers who rate places as excellent all have low standards. And I always like to travel only slightly hopefully, so that I am not disappointed. So, our three night spa break at this amazing place was a revelation and showed me that I am much less knowing than I thought I was. The hosts, owners, and staff truly care about making sure you have a wonderful time. The food is incredibly special, the wine is great, the treatments are blissful, the buildings are beautiful and the whole thing was great value for such a unique experience. Go there quicly before the whole world hears about it. Once the Soho house/Kew yummy muumies/Babington house lot know about it you won't be able to get in. I'm a spa junkie and a hotel princess (apparently) and I had a better time here than almost anywhere else I have ever been. This is one for the grown-ups; leave the kids at home.

This is a wonderful, friendly, spa, the perfect place to retreat and recharge. The spa is set at the foot of a gorgeous mountain, in beautiful grounds and with distant views of the sea. The villas are simple, stylish and comfortable with air conditioning and I loved the Espa products provided in the large walk in shower area! I booked the ayurvedic yoga break and attended twice daily yoga sessions, occasionally a struggle, but always enjoyable once there, and also had a 1:1 yoga session at which a personal programme was presented. I learnt a lot from the yoga teacher and met some lovely regulars attending the classes. It was a real pleasure to practice yoga on the outdoor pavillion in the evenings. The treatments I had were all bliss, particularly the body wrap (extra charge, but worth it!) which I saved for my last day just before I left. The circular pool with a view of the mountain was great for a cool down and the warm, powerful jacuzzi very relaxing.
With this package, breakfast and evening meal were included, and I can honestly say that the food was amazing. I have a gluten intolerance, and they were able to cater for this with no problems at all and provided alternatives to bread, such as tofu and potato bread. I enjoyed the healthy fruit plates at breakfast and there was a good range of wines to choose from in the evening. I liked the layout of the spa and restaurant, as being on my own, I could hide away in a comfy chair somewhere and read, or mingle with other guests if I was feeling sociable!
I appreciated the personal touch of being picked up and dropped off at the airport by the owner, who even offered to take me to look round a local mosque when I discovered on checking in that my flight back was delayed. All of my expectations were exceeded and I came back feeling refreshed and rejunevated, which was just what I was hoping for. A big thank you to all the staff at Vaha for looking after me so well.

“Loved the Vaha Spa!”

Vaha Spa & Health Club

21 Jun 2007
2/2 found this review helpful

We've just returned from a week at the Vaha Spa and had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay. The rooms are clean and spacious, and have all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay.

The spa facilities are first class and the staff can't do enough to help you. Gill and Steve (the owners) have clearly given a lot of thought to making sure all the little details are right - things like having two cold bottles of water for us in the car when they picked us up!

We hired a car during our stay (which they helpfully organised) so were able to explore some of the area. No accommodation that we saw came anywhere near the standard of the Vaha. The staff gave some excellent recommendations for where to visit, and where to eat in the evening. Although we did eat at the Spa on two nights - both times the food and service was excellent. The chef is clearly top-class.
We will definitely go back!
