We have just got back from our one week stay and we were very sorry to leave. We are in our early thirties and we had paid for a simple standard room. On arrival we had been upgraded to a sea view room at the back of the hotel- the view from the front would not have been nearly as nice. We appreciate the hotel upgrading us, however it did mean that we had a very small balcony, the superior sea view rooms had much larger balconies and so do the standard rooms at the front of the hotel. But we were happy to forfeit this for a better view. We stayed in room 243.
We watched the entertainment every night as we made the most of the all inclusive cocktails that were extensive in choice. We felt that even though some (not many) of the acts were a bit cheesy, they were all highly enjoyable. I do agree that it is quite impossible to have an early night if your room is at the back of the hotel as the music is loud, but we always stayed up until it finished, so that wasn't a problem for us. If you like an early night I recommend that you bring good earplugs!
We were pleased that the hotel was not surrounded by noisy nightlife, pubs, restaurants and gentlemans clubs that were to be found on the main strip in Limassol. So we were quite happy that the hotel is tucked away. We did two excursions and we would have otherwise taken the bus down the coast hopping off for only 3 Euros, so there is plenty to do even if you do not hire a car. We went on the Thomson 'I love cyprus' day trip which anyone will enjoy if they want to see the villages, local produce and a Roman villa. I know that this might not be everyone's cup of tea but I thoroughly enjoyed it as the guide was brilliant, speaking very good English and clearly had a fantastic knowledge of the area. Our second excursion was the VIP Catamaran- This was brilliant! I really recommend this trip as you have a large catarmaran for 50, but they only let 30 on the trip so there is plenty of room to lounge about on board, on the sun beds or sitting at the tables. The trip includes a fantastic lunch and opportunities to snorkel. Do wear lots of sun lotion and a well fitted hat as I got sunburnt on my head and a lady's glamourous wide brimmed hat flew off into the waves! It really was a luxurious trip and not to be missed- book it in your welcome meeting :)
Last year we stayed at the 5 star Atlantica Imperial in Rhodes. There was hardly any difference between the Imperial and Atlantica Bay. There was maybe a smaller selection of food at the Atlantica Bay but the food equalled the quality of the 5 star. From the other guests we heard no complaints about the food, only compliments. Do book the BBQ nights at the Beach Bar as it makes a lovely change to eating in the main restaurant and the food is great. These nights are on twice a week and we booked both nights on our first day, before they got booked up.
The hotel was clean (just a bit of dust on the shelf in the wardrobe- I am very fussy!) and we never noticed 'clean me' etched around the side of the pool even though we looked for it, they must have cleaned the poolside more thoroughly than before maybe....and all the staff were extremely attentive, polite (never abrupt!) and cheerful.
I had a spa treatment (they are typically priced, not cheap but not expensive) which was a lymphatic massage. It was lovely, very relaxing and a firm massage! I had it at 5:30pm and this was a good time as the pool is quiet at this time and your treatment room is next to the pool bar.
Please do not worry about going to this hotel (if you have read some negative reviews) as we had such a lovely time and we are hard to please! Anyone would have a fabulous time at the Atlantica Bay if they are with great company and just want to unwind, relax and have a bit of fun.
