“I want to go back!”

Queens Bay Hotel

19 Jun 2008
6/6 found this review helpful

Along with a few others on here, me and my boyfriend booked a week's stay at the Queens Bay based on the good reviews and lovely pictures and I have to say it lives up to all those things. We wanted a hassle free week of relaxation in the sun with good food and easy access to a bus stop which it definitely gave us.

Negative points I would make although they did not alter our enjoyment of the holiday is that we had twin beds instead of a double. Apparently the sea view rooms have double beds and are called junior suites but naturally they cost a bit more. Saying that though, I think it's definitely worth paying the extra because the views and the sunsets were stunning! Another thing is the evening entertainment was a bit too quiet for our liking and catered more to the older tourists with bingo and quizes and background singers. It was certainly a relaxing end to each day especially after getting know people at the hotel but it would have been nice to have the option for a bit of dancing into the night at least one night of the week.

Also I just want to add that we went on the sunset Katamaran excursion (through the olympic holiday rep) and I would defintiely recommend it. It's very relaxing, and they give you the option to have a swim or ride on some kayaks while they prepare the food nearer the bay. The food is great, all drinks are included and the crew were fantastic!

Feel free to email if you want to know anything else, we got back in the early hours of Wed 18th June.

“great 3-star hotel”

Queens Bay Hotel

Great value hotel, must be nearly a 4-star. Lovely public areas-plenty of space with good waiter service. Bedrooms good though size may be why only 3-star. Food good and plentiful. Have breakfast right next to pool-lovely start to day.. Good bus service to paphos and coral bay at end of road. Decent entertainment in evening...good singers. Hotel isolated so after a week may need to hire car. Beach tiny so 2 pools are main swimming opportunity. May be too quiet for kids. Overall, great peaceful holiday venue for adults.

“Great Hotel and Great Holiday”

Queens Bay Hotel

I have just come back after a wonderful weeks stay at this hotel. After reading many reviews on Trip Advisor we made our minds up to book this hotel. I am so glad I did and thanks to all the reviews on this site.
The scenary from our room was fantastic. Again per advice from other travellers we booked a sea view room. The sunsets are amazing and I have never seen such beautiful surroundings. Mountains to the right and the ocean to the front. What else could we ask for !!
Now about the staff ..again they were couteous and friendly. They were very helpful.
The meals at dinner time were fantastic. Especially the selection of salads!! We stayed on a half board basis and this suited us fine. This gave us time to explore etc during the day.
This is a very relaxing place. You can just chill out , read and sun bathe etc. Very peaceful. The hotel gardens are very beautiful too.
We also loved the three adorable black cats visiting the hotel. Many others did as well because we saw them petting the cats. The cats are very playful and timid. Most people enjoyed giving them a treat!! They caught all the unwanted bugs!!

Yes .. the bus stop is about two mins walk but this did not put us off. We enjoyed the walk up to the main road. Also it's so easy to drive in Cyprus, people can always hire a car. Very reasonable prices and car hire companies are all over the place. The hotel is wheel chair friendly and have ramps all over the hotel premises.

We also went on a safari to the Akamas region. We booked it through a guy called Dino by the harbour as we thought our tour reps trips were far too expensive. Though we had a brilliant time visitng all the places I did not enjoy Kojack the driver's way of handling the vehicle. He speeded up on this mountain trek so fast most of us were wondering if we ever came home in one piece!! I dont think I will ever go on a jeep safari again!! May be we should have hired our own car there because we could have enjoyed the scenary. This is what we plan to do next time.

There are a few people offering scratch cards by the harbour. If you say no thanks they will not pester you. Again this is something I leant on this site.

Overall we throughly enjoyed the hoilday and yes we will definetely return to this hotel. This hotel certainly should be a four star. Very good value for money. I cant find anything bad to say about this hotel.

“We loved this hotel”

First Impressions.
As we had been here before we knew what to expect. The Hotel reception staff were friendly, polite
and efficient.

Rooms.
We had a sea view room as the sunsets are spectacular. The rooms had undergone a small upgrade. Wooden flooring had been installed, in place of the previous carpeting, but we still experienced no noise from the rooms above or next to us.

Food.
The food at the Queens Bay is on a buffet basis ........... very good with a large choice of cold and hot breakfasts. The evening meals were outstanding with theme nights. We only had chips once in the two weeks we were there !

Entertainment.
There were daily activities such as Boules, Archery, Darts etc. where a lot of guests got to know each other
The evening entertainment was low key but suited us down to the ground and it gave us the opportunity to chat with other guests we had met. Many of the guests had been several time before and also were there for 4 or 5 weeks.....a few even 8 weeks. I could see why, as this is one of the most friendly hotels we have ever been to !
We will be looking to book for next February/ March ...... and probably for longer than the two weeks we were there this year.

Location.
The Queens bay is some way out from Paphos and also Coral Bay, but there is a frequent bus service from the top road......a 3 to 5 minute walk away.

“Fabulous Queens Bay Hotel”

I have just returned from a really great trip to Paphos, Cyprus. We stayed at the Queens Bay Hotel, This is my impression:

Firstly, I had read a few reviews on this site and so contacted the hotel myself via the internet. All replies were prompt and very courteous, so as they say, first impressions are lasting ones!
My wife and I departed from Cork on 8/05/08 via Heathrow (Which I would rather exclude from this i.e. no comment), arriving at Paphos airport at 22h10, we caught a Taxi from the airport to the hotel. It was a limo so we thought we traveled in style, well, never mind the style, the driver must have thought we were desperate to get there, he drove like a maniac and in had sussed us out as easy pickings. The pleasure of the trip or should I say terror of the trip cost us 45.00 Euros, but we were on holiday what the hell??
The Hotel staff from the outset were very courteous and pleasant, the room was very clean and with the balcony we had fantastic views of the sea, overlooking the pool area. Very nice!
On our first day, we were still a bit jet lagged and as this was our first break in quite a while, we spent the day relaxing at the hotel, then went into town (Paphos) to the Market area and ended up hiring a car (Taxi's too dicey in my opinion). The chap we dealt with was very entertaining and seated at a table outside, we concluded the deal, only having to produce my EU license and assurances that I could drive an Auto. No problems.
Our Second day consisted of a drive up the coast taking in the local sites and included a visit to the Birds and Animals Park. In my opinion this park is way overpriced and not good value for money, but then perhaps I have been spoiled by the Foto Wildlife park, here in Cork. The sites which included a protected fishing bay, a archaeological site and Aprodite's pool and walk, was very interesting. The only charge was for the archaeological stie at 1.71 Euros each, not bad and quite interesting. Lovely views of the sea. I found the fauna and flora on the walk to Aprodite's pool most interesting and clearly marked out. During our drive up here, we encountered some very friendly swallows, that followed us swooping alongside us for some distance, interesting. The drive back was along mountainous roads and plenty of vineyards, very interesting and pleasant.
Without going on and on about the trip, in all it was very interesting. Now for the Hotel:
Staff were very courteous, the room was very clean and we found in general although the staff place was immaculate, the staff were very un-obtrusive. The meals at the hotel were all buffet style, and fresh, my wife and I both being taken by the divine Yogurt. Entertainment was arranged throughout the days and some of the evenings. The rates were very reasonable from what I was able to tell. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing a quite stay, with good service. Highly recommended that one hires a car for general getting around without a fuss.
