Liked what I had read about this property and discounted the negatives. Location was perfect for me, about 10 mins walk from the harbour and on the edge of downtown Paphos and near a bus route. I arrived very late and was slightly disappointed to be given a room which seemed to overlook a block of flats but when I got up in the morning found a jacaranda tree and cascades of bougainvillea outside my balcony and it was dead quiet, just the cooing of ring necked doves so I stayed put. I suspect rooms overlooking the two pools might be quite noisy as there was music at night.

Rooms previously quoted as tired but mine had been refurbished with new flooring, new bathroom with a good shower over the bath and a new aircon. Furniture was awaiting installation but I was quite happy with what was there. The largish room was kept spotless and bedlinen changed every other day. The water cooler in the room was invaluable.

Food was too British for my taste but I understand why they do this. One night a week is Cyprus food. Plenty of it and well cooked. Delicious green salads all locally grown always on offer and home made sorbets always available. Fabulous breakfasts with at least 6 different fresh fruits every day eg watermelon, plums, apricots, oranges etc, delicious Greek yoghurt and a pot of honey as well as the usual bacon, egg, toast and coffee. Really no need for lunch after fuelling up in the morning.

Two swimming pools and loads of sun loungers on various levels meant nobody had to go without.

Best of all was the terrific home from home feel that you only get in a family run hotel. It shows. For a single, older, woman traveller this was so appreciated. The entire staff were delightful. I cannot fault one of them and all seemed genuinely concerned that your needs were met and that you were enjoying yourself. You cannot buy this attitude no doubt installed by the patron, Papa George.

I enjoy independent exploration and found the Paphos bus service somewhat limiting but the town is great and the people are so friendly. Went for a walk before bed every night and was perfectly safe, then another early in the morning before breakfast when you can get more of a local feel for the place. Just delightful.

If I return to Paphos, I would not consider staying anywhere other than the Nereus. No photos as I stopped travelling with a camera years ago.

We stayed at the Nereus for 9 nights in June 2008. Booked on a bed and breakfast basis. Good choice of food-fruit,cereal, fried etc. Did not eat in hotel for lunch or dinner as choice of restaurants nearby is tremendous. As for the rooms-they look a little tired and could do with some updating but what do you expect for the price? Air conditioning very effective and believe me, it was needed! 20 litre bottle of water 9 Euros-fits into dispenser supplied in the room. Well worth it, hot or cold water at the push of a button. Our room was at the back on the second floor-away from the noise of the bar and the swimming pools. View from balcony terrible but worth asking for a room on this side for the peace and quiet. Staff in general friendly and helpful-special mention to Lynn on reception who helped us a great deal when a problem arose with our return flight. Would go back again but either earlier in the year or a lot later as temperatures were mid-high thirties every day. Overall,an enjoyable stay in a good location and good value for the money paid.

We stayed at the Hotel from the 16th April 2008 to the 1st of May 2008.Well what a very pleasent surprise.Having read the reviews from others we did turn up with an open mind on what we were going to find.Need not have worried. From the second we all walked in we were greeted with a smile. There were six in our party with an age range of three to eighty nine.So up to the rooms.Clean, tidy and plenty of room(even with three beds in a twin). No slip mat in the bath or hair dryer so quick call to reception, both in place within five minutes.Down to the bar, clean and tidy and another welcome smile.Dinner time, another big surprise, varied, plentyfull and very tasty. After dinner walk, top location plenty of bars and restaurants or close to the old port for us older generation.Good nights sleep and down for breakfast, what a selection, something for everyone and plenty of it.Out to the pools and sun decks, clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds.
Over all 10/10.
(only moan,to much football on the tv in the bar)

Just come back from a two week stay at the Nereus hotel with my husband, sister, brother in law and neice. Could not fault the hotel at all, the food was fabulous all home cooked and delicious. All the staff are friendly and helpfull. The rooms are very clean and all the public areas are well tended to. The water cooler in the room is a real help and a must when its very hot.
The hotel is ideally situated on the edge of town close enough to walk to the busier streets but well out of all the noise. We would certainly reccommend it to all.

Visited April 2008.

Staff are very friendly.

Rooms are more comfortable than the basic "Greek" style. With reasonably comfortable chairs to sit on, as opposed to the plastic chairs normally on offer.

Booking 1/2 board, we were surprised to find, our room contained a fridge and a cooker.TV in room also (hook up the archos, no problem for that last hour of winding down and sleep).

For those dining in, dont expect candlelit dinners in a quite corner where you whisper sweet nothings to your partner.
But do expect good honest food. There is a choice of starters, 3 main courses and a sweet trolley to select from.

The main courses do consist of a veg option and include greek style food.

Must try the tomato soup, it is just so tasty.

Breakfast is a varied selection from fruit to cooked and just help yourself.

All very clean, and we were happy, as we dont like buffet style meals as we dont like people potentially messing with our food. No problems here.

Location of the hotel, is second to none. About 5 minutes walk to the harbour. Bus stop 100yds away for a trip to Pafos centre (known as Market).

Prices are reasonable, we worked it out and for a couple to stop a year on bed and breakfast, would cost about £3,000. Due to this fact, a lot of older people use the hotel, but there is a good mixture of ages and everybody just wanted to get on with each other. Prices of drinks in the hotel were reasonable and cheaper than outside.

As usual, the Cypriots are very nice people.

If you want to find fault, you can find it, but dont expect a rolls royce for a mini clubman price. This place is a little gem.

Go and enjoy yourseves.
