“Wonderful, Romantic Holiday”

Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort

11 Jun 2008

This was my first holiday abroad with my boyfriend, and what a holiday it was! We arrived in the middle of the night and I was tired from the trip and upset because there was no fountain outside(all the other hotels where our coach had stopped had had fountains outside!). When I woke up I was gobsmacked, breakfast is served in a lovely marble floored dining area but there is also a canopied area right by the pool where we ate every morning. The pool itself is set in a beautiful garden with tropical foliage. We had no problem getting a sunlounger as long as we were there by about 10am but most people have afternoon naps before their evening meal so it was pretty empty then too. There is also another kidney shaped pool next to the apartments (a 60 second walk). There is a small beach hut bar here where we went for cocktails most nights as it was very quiet and lovely with the pool all lit up. The staff at the hotel could not do enough for us, they were polite eager and friendly. You can tell it is a family run hotel. The location of the Paphos Gardens is also superb, you literally walk out the front door and you are on a street of restaurants. Its about a 10 minute walk to the beach front and also bar street. We went to the archeological site which was interesting but not a good idea to be there at midday as it gets really hot!! Our room at the hotel was clean, airy and we had our own balcony with a view of a grove of palm trees. I would definately come back to this hotel, I loved it!

“Great location, dirty premises, disinterested service”

Relying on the excellent reviews at tripadvisor, we booked 5 nights at Paphos Gardens. This was a mistake. Given, the location is near the beach and a little out of the way of the mass tourism market - which is comparably small in Paphos. We are, however, fans of simple cleanliness. This hotel only secures lowest standards. Bugs we killed on the first day of our stay in the room remained on the floor to the last. A line of ants marched across the top of our kitchen counter. The toilettes smelled of urine - upon our arrival. The sheets were dingy. We received fresh towels on the 4th day of our stay after asking for them twice. This, interested reader, is the second problem at Paphos Gardens: the service team really seemed to resent that guests visited their hotel. Shop around. This hotel is comparably inexpensive. The value for money is low, though, unless you don't care about the dirt.

“Disgraceful accommodation”

Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort

1 Jun 2008

We booked two superior apartments with our good friends. When we arrived we were given two very basic apartments. They both had grubby and well worn furniture, both had not been cleaned and were dirty and very very basic. We went to see the representative for the hotel and she was not at all helpful suggesting that the hotel was fully booked and would not be able to change our accommodation. All she was interested in was selling us a type of time share. We went to the reception to complain and a very insensitive receptionist almost threw 2 sets of keys at us for us to view other rooms telling us to let her know if we still wanted to move. On visiting these rooms we realised that this is what we should have been given in the first place having paid for superior apartments. They were of a lot better quality and at least were clean and fit for habitation. We accepted the change and were offered no form of apology and certainly no help in moving our luggage across. We did not have a suitable plug in the apartment and when we inquired at the reception we were told to go and purchase one from the shop. Our toaster did not work but eventually a very kind cleaner gave us one from another aparment along with an appropriate electrical plug. Our friends did not have an ironing board in their room and were advised to borrow ours. They were on the ground floor and we were on the 1st floor.

The staff at the reception were mostly unhelpful and unfriendly.

They seemed to begrudge the tourists being there.

We wrote to the hotel on our return to complain about the accommodation initially given and the lack of help and friendliness with their staff. We did not receive the courtesy of a reply.

Would we book into this hotel again most emphatically NO NO NO

“Lovely hotel in fantastic location”

We stayed in the Paphos Gardens apartments and had the most fabulous holiday, I can't recommend it too highly. Paphos itself is a lovely harbour town and Paphos Gardens is in the perfect location, not right at the heart of the action but a short walk away from the bars and restaurants of the harbour. It is definitely in the nicest part of Paphos, I would avoid staying anywhere off the Kings Road and recommend staying near where Paphos Gardens is, a bit further down from the harbour. We went the first week in October and the temperature was still well in the 30s everyday. Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed, including air-con which was much appreciated. The pool was lovely and clean and in general we found the apartments perfect and couldn't have asked for anything more, although we were self-catering so can't really speak for the food. I would recommend self-catering as there are so many nice restaurants around it seems a shame to eat in the hotel every night. All in all this was a perfect holiday that I would recommend to anyone - the resort and the apartments were all exactly what I wanted beforehand and I was very sorry to come home again!

just back from paphos gardens with my husband and daughter who is 13months, we were in a brand new apartment on the ground floor which was very clean but too small for the 3 of us. the cot bed took up all the room so we had to take it down and have her sleep in with us. there were another 5 families with us also staying there in the same new apartment block, they also had kids however their rooms were very spacious and had huge modern bathrooms. think we were just unlucky . they had dishwashers the lot. and lots of room
we ate at the pool bar during the day and the food was a treat, waiters were very friendly and helpful.
weather was brilliant the whole week, we just came back on wedneday the 14th may. at night time it wasnt very that busy as it wasnt really in peak season yet, but lots of pubs if u like that ,and not very much shops , which closed at 7pm so u had to be out early to get them, they have a debenhams and a next which was good.
would recommend it but if u are going as a family of 3 i would try and get a 2 bedroom apartment just to make sure u will have lots of room .
