“Avoid if you want peace. NOT 4 star.”
Overall - Felt like a holiday camp and not in a good way. You feel crammed in and herded. We went in low season and it felt crowded, I dread to think what it is like in high season. Louis Hotels have a policy of recruiting students from Eastern Europe and Pakistan/India as staff during the summer. Often their English is REALLY poor. Their service ethic/training often leaves a lot to be desired. This is true for all Louis hotels/ships but in this hotel they seem to use the candidates that were not so good/are in their first year. The regular staff are generally lovely and really helpful. The hotel is the last in the row on the outskirts of Paphos and so has nothing closer than 15 mins walk away. You cannot currently walk along the beach to the hotel - and this is a long walk. I agree with comments about tatoos. It is definitely a low 3 star and I am really not sure what the Thomson ratings go on.
Rooms - tired decor, strange smell, tiny and grubby bathroom with frayed towels. Good maid service. We paid for sea view but had to wait nearly a week to get a decent upgrade. Only BBC 24 in English on TV. Safe is an extra cost about 40 euros for 2 weeks.
Restaurant and foods - poor waiter service - often attempting to take plates before you have finished. Food average. All food is full fat - no reduced fat options on anything. Again issues due to language/training. A few of the staff had serious BO problems/lack of deodorant that the restaurant manager was not picking them up about.
Pool area leading to 'Beach' - jammed with rows (4 and 5 deep at some points) of sun beds with no space in between them. The usual situation of people (especially Brits) 'reserving' their sun beds for the full 2 weeks by leaving inflatables on them overnight. 1 pool that is far too small for the hotel (indoor pool is only a dipping pool). Really noisy due to the number of people and then you have the really loud DJ/animation team who play everything at nightclub volume and so you could hear it all over the grounds (no quiet place unless you went to the public beach). If you try to move away from pool and DJ you then end up with noise from the Watersports people running their jeeps, constantly hosing down or firing up their jet skis, etc. Not sure if the hotel has an arrangement with them as they do encroach on to the hotel grounds a lot with jeeps, jet skis, petrol cans, etc and show no consideration for guests. The kids playgrounds are in full sun, no shade. Pool bar food is pure junk food - although there is lots of fruit out - and is left in open to flies for hours. No towels provided around the pool - do not buy from hotel shop as they are expensive, as is everything from there, walk down the road to the shops.
Beach is really a thin strip of 'sand' about one sun bed deep. It is dirty and the sea is very rocky to the point that you cannot swim in it. The hotel really do not make the most of the area (see photos) and do not check what is happening around there so there are skips, discarded tyres, litter, etc around there. As said earlier it is in between the pool area and the water sports area and so it is not peaceful.
Bars - they may have 3 bars (not counting pool bar) but they are all in the same open plan area and so are very noisy especially when the kids start running around. Once again there is nowhere to go to have a bit of peace and quiet. Again they believe that music should be played loud. The 'acts' are really, REALLY poor. The ones that played in the night club (yes you can hear them in the bar) do not sound as bad. Service is bad and not helped by the poor English (their Greek is even worse!).
Internet access – 1 euro for 10 minutes and the computers often have faults on them.
Outside the hotel - The public beach is quiter and nicer. The other hotels do not let anyone but their guests use their beach areas. Paphos is lovely and go to Coral Bay. Take the Cruise to Egypt if you can, even though you get too little time there it is worth it.
