Recently returned from a very enjoyable totally relaxing one week stay at The Ascos from 20th - 27th May. Flights with Thomas Cook Airlines were as usual awful although the Ascos more than made up for this. The moment you step into the Ascos is like entering a world of tranquillity. I would say the average age range appears to be 40 plus and no children screaming or dive bombing in the pool made this holiday all the more enjoyable. We are both 34 but this was no problem as we met some very nice people and had some good laughs with a few beers in the evening. The room was nice of a good size, the only thing I would say is that the bathrooms could do with an update but this is a very minor point. The rooms are cleaned daily and nice and early. We were on all inclusive basis and found the food to be of a good standard for all inclusive, particularly breakfast; however we did eat out regularly as Coral Bay has a superb range of restaurants, we had a lovely meal in King Coral, a little more expensive than some of the others but it was very nice. Coral Bay is a 5-10 minute stroll away and really comes alive at night, the Locals are extremely friendly and very welcoming. Please Please stay clear of the Brits, yes the Brits giving out scratch cards and telling you that you have won an amazing price, please do not be sucked in by them you have not won convincing as they are. If you are offered a scratch card politely decline and they usually go away, if you accept a scratch card at best you will lose about 3 hours of your holiday listening to a presentation about time share properties. At worst you will leave severely out of pocket (contract cooling off periods are different in other countries) don’t let them ruin it.
We hired a 200cc buggy from Golden Trials which are on Coral Bay front, we got a very good deal and it was a fun way to get around, we also returned the buggy a day early as we no longer needed it and George gave us a full day refund which we thought was great. There is so much to do and see around Paphos, unfortunately we didn't have long enough to do it all as my husband did his advanced Diving with Cydive, also based in Coral Bay.
Despite Thomas Cook Airline flights being terrible, the Thomas Cook Rep, Zoe at The Ascos was excellent, very friendly and went over and above to be helpful and informative.
Entertainment is not the best at The Ascos, however the Animation team are not pushy and do not harass you to join in with activities if you don't want to as we have previously experienced. There is lots of Bingo in the evenings and usually some sort of quiz, however with Coral Bay being such a short stroll away we tended to go out a walk most nights.
In Summary I would not hesitate to recommend The Ascos if its peace and tranquillity you are after you really will not go far wrong here, we will be back in 2009 for two weeks this time.
