Arrived 8/6/08 We spent one week on our Honeymoon at the Ascos Coral Beach Hotel it was Brilliant the staff are so helpful and polite the food was very good plenty to choose from and HOT
the pool and pool area was very clean the room was a good size the beds were made and clean towels every day ...An added bonus was no children... The entertainment through the day was OK if you like bowls/darts/skittles...The evening entertainment was fair with Games / Bingo10 euros for a strip of six / Lucky 13 1 euros a ticket / lots of help with the entertainment like GO FETCH from some guests mainly Neil & Andy a really good laugh some nights other nights could have been better ...Most of the guests we spoke to had all been to the Ascos before some yearly so that sums it up really a very memorable holiday
THANK YOU ASCOS FROM MARIAN & ALAN YORK ENGLAND

“Going back!!”

Ascos Coral Beach Hotel

I started to read reviews of Ascos Beach about March and I was a bit apprehensive to be honest. Some reviews were less than "glowing" and I was wondering what we (my fiance and I) were letting ourselves in for.

Well overall we loved the place. I have been to Cyprus before (Protaras) on an all-inclusive basis and had a wonderful time, really loved Cyprus but this was even better. Any reviewer who says the hotel is dirty must have been staying in a different place from us. Either that or the hotel have taken note and massively improved their standard of cleanliness in a very short space of time!! We were given clean towels almost every day and our room was cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis.

The food was lovely, plenty of choice. I do agree with another reviewer who would have liked more greek cuisine on the menu but thats a comment rather than a complaint. We were all-inclusive and couldn't believe that most of the cocktails were free!! Also the "snack" meals were actual meals (pizza, omelettes, burgers all with chips). A foodies heaven...The waiting staff and bar staff were all really lovely and pleasant. Again we agree with a previous reviewer who said the staff on reception were not the most helpful.

The entertainment was fair. Even though we are middle-aged (!) 51 & 53, we would have liked a disco a few times. I mean no matter what age everyone likes a boogie to Abba. Maybe something for the hotel to consider.

Compared to previous reviewers we had no problems with our homebound Thomas Cook flights (to Belfast). Perhaps we were just lucky.

Another comment on the reps knowledge of the trips. We asked about the island tour and were told we would be back about 4.30pm. Well it was 7pm before we were back. Something to consider as we were picked up at 7.10am. A very long day.

Lastly on our last day we were being picked up at 6.30pm and asked if there was anywhere we could shower and change before being picked up. We were given access to a standard room at no extra cost. So do ask. Just another little pleasing aspect of the hotel.

“Superb One Week Break- Recommended”

Ascos Coral Beach Hotel

31 May 2008

Recently returned from a very enjoyable totally relaxing one week stay at The Ascos from 20th - 27th May. Flights with Thomas Cook Airlines were as usual awful although the Ascos more than made up for this. The moment you step into the Ascos is like entering a world of tranquillity. I would say the average age range appears to be 40 plus and no children screaming or dive bombing in the pool made this holiday all the more enjoyable. We are both 34 but this was no problem as we met some very nice people and had some good laughs with a few beers in the evening. The room was nice of a good size, the only thing I would say is that the bathrooms could do with an update but this is a very minor point. The rooms are cleaned daily and nice and early. We were on all inclusive basis and found the food to be of a good standard for all inclusive, particularly breakfast; however we did eat out regularly as Coral Bay has a superb range of restaurants, we had a lovely meal in King Coral, a little more expensive than some of the others but it was very nice. Coral Bay is a 5-10 minute stroll away and really comes alive at night, the Locals are extremely friendly and very welcoming. Please Please stay clear of the Brits, yes the Brits giving out scratch cards and telling you that you have won an amazing price, please do not be sucked in by them you have not won convincing as they are. If you are offered a scratch card politely decline and they usually go away, if you accept a scratch card at best you will lose about 3 hours of your holiday listening to a presentation about time share properties. At worst you will leave severely out of pocket (contract cooling off periods are different in other countries) don’t let them ruin it.
We hired a 200cc buggy from Golden Trials which are on Coral Bay front, we got a very good deal and it was a fun way to get around, we also returned the buggy a day early as we no longer needed it and George gave us a full day refund which we thought was great. There is so much to do and see around Paphos, unfortunately we didn't have long enough to do it all as my husband did his advanced Diving with Cydive, also based in Coral Bay.
Despite Thomas Cook Airline flights being terrible, the Thomas Cook Rep, Zoe at The Ascos was excellent, very friendly and went over and above to be helpful and informative.
Entertainment is not the best at The Ascos, however the Animation team are not pushy and do not harass you to join in with activities if you don't want to as we have previously experienced. There is lots of Bingo in the evenings and usually some sort of quiz, however with Coral Bay being such a short stroll away we tended to go out a walk most nights.
In Summary I would not hesitate to recommend The Ascos if its peace and tranquillity you are after you really will not go far wrong here, we will be back in 2009 for two weeks this time.

Lovely 4 star hotel, very spacious. Ample bedroom space for 3 adults which is what we requested. Pool area clean, plenty of sun beds and not over crowded. 5 min walk to shingle beach and 15 min walk to main sandy beach at Coral Bay. Entertainment staff worked very hard to keep guests entertained during the day. Food and drinks available all day at various bars around the hotel and pool. Local spirits and wine were adequate and better quality than some all inclusives.
Food was ok, but not great. It was hot and there was plenty of it but it did become monotonous by the end of the week. Not enough Cypriot food choices for my liking. Catered very much for English - I didnt expect to get pork chops or shepherds pie! Flavouring of some dishes was very bland.
Refreshingly however was the child free policy between May - Oct. This was great and the age range of guests was from 25 - 80 so a nice general mix.
The evening entertainment was again ok, the team worked very hard at their "cabaret" acts but again by the end of the week it all became the same and got tiring.
You could walk to Coral Bay shops/bars within 10-15 minutes or get a local bus to Paphos Harbour or town centre within 30 mins.

We have just returned from ascos coral beach this is our 5th visit in 7 years, we have never had a bad holiday yet at the hotel the only sad thing is that Andreas at the pool bar has finished, because of bad health we were told we wish him a happy retirement and thank him for his excellent service over the years we will miss him when we return. We agree with a previous review about the time share touts Cyprus does not need them if they approach you keep walking and dont answer them if you see them first separate you are no good to them alone we find this does work a lot of the time i also have my inclusive band put on loose so i can take it off when i am out . The hotel is clean the food is good the staff are all very nice and helpful also the entertainment has improved quite a lot at least they get 2 professional acts a week in now .we met a lot of very nice people this time it was great because the hotel was not full so when we were there it was the quietist we have ever seen it. no matter what time of year you go you never have to get up early to get a sun bed there have always been plenty.
