I wish someone had told me to check a map before confirming my reservation. This hotel is only 5 minutes drive from the Pafos Internationa lAirport. It may not feel like it when you first come to the hotel as the hotel is near the back side of the airport so the taxi driver drives all the way around the town before arriving at the hotel. It was war over the easter weekend in Cyprus so we thought we could enjoy the gardens and the beach. The planes would land every 20 minutes on some days. It was not a relaxing break. In the summer when it is high season the noise must be unbearable as the planes approach to land. The hotel is in general not bad , very average, but the location so close to the landing runway makes it a nightmare for me.

This is a 3 star hotel in service and a 2 star hotel in location. This is the simple fact. I do not like being rude either but everyone is saying the same critisism only far too politely to give a real warning to the rest of us. The Food is like a bad airport lounge as it is the atmosphere. The hotel is nothing like the photographs advertised . The rooms are of 3 star size. The location..sandwiched between old eighties' style hotels and a soon to start construction site. This cannot be given 4 or 5 star rating by people who have stayed in five star hotels. Only the prices are five star...especially in the spa. The spa is dated and the therapists nothing special. Even reviewers that gave the hotel top points like the one on the 1st of december, do mention very diplomaticaly what the problems are.... This is a more direct warning that will save you wasting your holiday in a souless, cheap , mediocre hotel. That is how I felt.

We travelled to the Aquamare in August 2007, and even though I had been to Paphos many years before, the area has changed a lot.

We arrived at the hotel quite late at night and while the manager was arranging our room keys, he sent over a few glasses of ice-cold orange juice which were most welcome, as the heat and humidity in Cyprus, even close to midnight, can get a little too much to handle. The hotel lobby itself is really cool due to the powerful air-con they have and it's nice and laid back with big armchairs and sofas. The lobby bar is quite laid back and quiet, but the staff are friendly and helpful (you have to try the Brandy Sours!).

There is a main restaurant in the hotel which we never ate in, but the buffet restaurant does a lovely breakfast and lunch, and you have the advantage of being able to sit out in the main garden area near the beach while you eat. There's also a pool/beach bar in the gardens and it's great to grab a bit of shade here and a nice cool drink during the day.

The spa and gym areas are clean and well equipped although we didn't take the opportunity to use them as much as we would have liked.

The rooms are clean and well equipped, with all the standard amenities, like a/c, tv, etc. Again, the a/c is a must, as Cyprus gets hot, hot, hot during the day, and feels even hotter at night.

The main pool is a decent size, although not huge, but it has a jacuzzi and swim up bar. Below the main pool in the gardens is a kids pool with pirate ship and slides, and there's also an indoor pool which is isn't heated and is ideal for escaping the heat of the day - very refreshing!

The gardens lead down to the beach, which isn't very sandy - mainly crushed shells - and the section of beach here has a lot of rocks under the water. A better bet is walk down the beach to the left, to the neighbouring hotel beach, which is a lagoon style area. The water is quite shallow and warm, and there's plenty of little fish around, so a snorkel and mask is a must. Just make sure that you wear pool shoes or something similar.

The Aquamare is a beautiful hotel and well worth the price. I'm not sure is it's a full 5 star, but it's if not, it's not far off. Highly recommended

very impressive reception area and received a warm welcome.
stayed for one week and had, sleet, snow, rain and gales as well as some sun! be warned staying the this area in January can be cold and dark,enough of the weather!
the hotel is lovely has everything one would need, so dont bother going into kato pahos, which takes 25 mins to walk there, tried to see beyond the olde english pubs etc that lined some streets, the shops were really awful, dont waste your time, the town of pahos, wasnt any better.
i tried a treatment in the spa of the hotel and it was wonderful, a fantastic treat.
would book a sea view room as i stayed in a room overlooking the main road and found it noisy and can imagine in the summer to be really bad.
i found the hotel, staff, food, taxi drivers and local people to be fantastic, shame about the resort.
