Well after stoping at another hotel over the years, the price went up too much, so looked for another, within walking distance of the Railway Station, now where this was supposed to be, wasnt, it could have been me in a trance , but i found it, And what a pleasant little gem it was, ITS DIRECTLY AT THE SIDE OF THE CROWNE PLAZA, yes no street signs, so aim for this hotel on the corner of markus sittikus strasse, and a green hotel light, very clean, warm, pleasant reception, and great staff , throughout my stay, good lift, and good bedrooms, with shower, etc, the good thing were double doors, but a very quiet hotel, , the breakfast room , was a very nice place with a good variety of breakfast items, all fresh, with plenty of tea or coffee, and there was a bar, and a conference room with free internet access, the reception staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, room cleaned and tidied everyday with fresh towels, THE ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THE PILLOWS, yes feather and too soft, you could have done with two, but a great place very handy and i have booked in for next year already
ENJOY

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were professional and friendly, especially the night bar man who was very generous with the drinks! The rooms were clean and the continental breakfast plentiful.

It's in a good location, close to the Mirabell gardens and in easy walking distance to the main sights.

We'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody.

We stayed 3 nights in late Sept. during over 3 weeks in Europe. The hotel was easy walking distance from the railway station and the old town. You can walk through the beautiful Mirabella Gardens on the way to the old town.

The room was good. Breakfast was a very good buffet with lots of choice and in a nice large room.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, booking tours and a Mozart concert. They also do washing for you at the hotel for a reasonable price and then let us use the iron in the basement.

Great value for money. Would definitely stay again.

“Great place to stay!!”

Great hotel: We stayed for 3 nights and would definately go back.

Good points:
Easy walking distance of everything. A 15 minute stroll by the river to the old town, 10 minutes walk to the train station (shopping centres to divert you on the way). Warm rooms, cleaned daily. Lovely, pristine, modern bathroom- ours had a really deep bath and no annoying extractor fan that keeps running after you turn the bathroom light off- if you know what I mean?
Quiet rooms with double doors - couldn't really hear the other guests. We could hear the snow ploughs outside occasionally, but it was hardly noticable. Lovely breakfast- spreads of hams and cheeses and lots of types of bread, fruit, plus cereals (the usual for Austria). Excellent service from the staff who were all really attentive and friendly. Free safe box in reception, which was handy for passports etc. The receptionist doubles up as a bar maid in the evening and runs around between the 2 - very efficiently I must add!

Bad points:
The 2 single douvets on the double bed were a bit short (I'm 5'8) and they sort of 'rustled' quite noisily. The Pillows looked great but as soon as you put your head on them they sank so much that you may as well have your head straight on the matress.
No tea or coffee in the rooms.

    • Liked — Clean, warm and cosy
    • Disliked — The short douvets and flat pillows!

We should definitely recommend the Markus Sittikus. Apart from being undoubtedly the quietest Hotel we have ever visited it still maintains
the warm friendly atmosphere noted by other travellers. Yes, the indefatigable Maria is still there maintaining with her colleaques the high standard of service seemingly at all times. There is much to see in Salzburg within easy walking distance from the Hotel and the Mozart Dinner at the St Peter Stiffskeller is a must. For eating out try the Mudenhamer Restaurant in Rainerstrasse only five minutes walk away which provides excellent food at a very reasonable price.
Salzburg is truly lovely City particularly in the run up to Christmas with its scented markets. Wonderful short break.
