My boyfriend and I recently stayed here during a three day trip to Salzburg. First of all, Salzburg is absolutely adorable and completely worth a trip. A trip to the Bavarian Alps in Germany is also a wonderful idea for a quick day trip, or even an overnight.

As for the hotel, we loved it. After reading other reviews, I think it may be partly luck as it seems some rooms are not as modern and well furnished as others. Our room was lovely. The bed was comfortable, we had a small table and comfy chairs, and the bathroom was quite large. Everything was very clean, and we had plenty of closet space.

The breakfast was also very good. There was no hot food, but ample fruits, cold meats, breads, cheeses, juices, and sweets. They also brought around pots of tea and coffee to every table.

Overall, I'd say it's a wonderful place to stay. It was a good location (10 minute walk through the Mirabell gardens to the city center), great room, and great breakfast. They also have a computer with internet you can use.

Just returned from Salzburg (19/03/07 - 23/03/07). Stayed at the Markus Sittikus based on reviews from Tripadvisor, have to say we werent dissapointed. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, Hotel
condition/decoration is good and clean. Breakfast is from 7.00 - 10.00 and even at 9.30/9.45 - there is still enough to give you a good start to the day.

Hotel is in good position (for us, mid 40's able bodied, dont mind a walk), just on the outskirts of the New Town about 150yds from the north end of Mirabell Gardens (S o M fans, this is where Do, Ray, Me is played on the steps and fountain). walk through the gardens to bring you to one of the main bridges to the Old Town or keep the Mirabell Gardens to your left and you will come to one of the many bridges that span the river - the choice is then to walk this side of the river or cross over, either way you will get fantastic views of the Old Town and Fortress - takes about 20 mins from hotel to get into the thick of it.

In the other direction, the hotel is about 1/2 mile from the main railway station, and there are bus stops for each direction at the end of the street. The hotel is on a one way street that does not lead directly to anywhere, we had a room at the front of the hotel and did not hear a thing. we had room N0. 32 - check out the picture.
We brought back good maps from the tourist info, bus routes, etc. which I will mention in a post in the Salzburg Forum under the heading 'just back, tourist info available'. I've done this because i'm not sure if you can get a direct link to me through this review.

Hotel was well located and very clean and comfortable. We found staff to be helpful and polite, Breakfast plentiful and continually stocked up. Would recommend this Hotel highly.

One tip is to buy the Salzburg card. Cost was 29 Euros for 2 days and gets you into all of the major sites and use of public transport in the City. It also offers reductions on tours and excursions. We saved a lot of money.

Stayed one night on 5th March and found the hotel very conveinient for the old town, railway and bus stations and sightseeing. Near to Mirabell Gardens. Staff friendly and helpful, free internet and luggage store. Breakfast really nice and fresh. Room was a single and a bit on the small side but comfortable and quiet.
