“Nice little hotel”

Our family of 6 people stayed here for 2 nights, renting 2 triple rooms. This hotel is not in the old city but across the river and still in a nice area. We were able to walk to everything and there were some good restaurant choices near to the hotel. They were helpful in booking our Sound of Music tour. The receptionist was always very cheerful and helpful. We were in a top floor but still heard some noise from the street below (windows open in summer). Perhaps lower floors would be even noisier. Also, we had a car and the tiny parking lot was an issue and they allowed people (staff?) to double park. There was a good bit of waiting for someone to move his car at one time. Overall, I can recommend if you need a Salzburg hotel with family rooms.

We loved this hotel. We stayed there two nights. From the moment we walked in the door the staff were great and were very helpful with instructions, booking the Sound of Music Tour for us, telling us what the weather the next day would be like, etc. It wasn't too bad of a walk from the train station and it was a short walk to the pedestrian area and the old town. Very clean rooms with modern bathrooms. We wish we had stayed longer. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but opted to walk a little bit to the pedestrian area and the Old Town to eat, so I can't comment on that. I would definately recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a nice average romantic hotel in the middle of Salzburg. Everything you want to see can be reached by foot. The rooms are clean and spacious. Only breakfast could be more diversified.

I booked this hotel based on feedback from tripadvisor so I had an idea of what to expect. My comments:

Location. Although not in the old town, it is walking distance to the edge of the pedestrian zone. That end has great restaurants, although farther out from major sites in the old town (closest site would be St. Stephen's Church). In terms of distance, I'd estimate walking 10 minutes to get to the pedestrian zone - roughly the length and the width of a Manhattan block.

Service. Folks at the front desk were great at check in/check out and also with restaurant recommendations (Alter Fuchs in Old town - separate review). Personnel at breakfast were also attentive. Breakfast is 10 euro extra per person ... when we booked breakfast was not included.

Facilities. Public areas are very nice although rooms was not at the same standard. For the price, we were expecting better. I think it is more on the 2 star range, rather than 3 - comparing it to other tripadvisor-reviewed hotels we've stayed at. Although they "technically" qualify for a 3, I think that is pushing it. For example, they do have a hairdryer but it is one of those weak vacuum hose types. The 2.5 x 2.5 ft shower is tight and the curtain has a pungent unpleasant smell. The toilet is in a separate cubbie decorated in yellow and black tile.

The room itself was basic but functional. It had a 13 in. TV, 2 single beds pushed together. It can get pretty loud esp if you are on a lower floor (we were five floors up but it still was noisy). Sheets are clean. So between this and the shower curtain, review for cleanliness is mixed. The photos online are much better than actual (by the way, although not a deal-breaker, the chocolate-on-the-pillow is not a standard feature).

As mentioned in a previous review, the elevator was quite unique. We've stayed at other small european hotels before but this is the first one we've seen without an inner door or gate so the walls of the passing floors are exposed. We took a video but my husband wont let me post it!!

NET: Although service is great, we will try another place next time to see if we can do better with facilities with our budget.
