We spent one night at the Auersperg, and it suited our needs well. The location is a short walk from the old town area (on the opposite side river) and away from the main sites, in a quiet part of town.
The receptionist was a bit harried as we arrived, as apparently quite a few guests had all come to check in at the same time. She was abrupt but nevertheless answered our questions. When we got to our room, none of our keys worked, but another hotel employee quickly came to our rescue. In fact, with the exception of the woman who checked us in, the staff was very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist us.
Our room was quite large, even with the pull-out bed made up. There was no A/C, but a fan was provided. The room had a DVD player, and the hotel offered a list of movies which could be borrowed from the front desk. Everything was clean, bright, and welcoming.
One thing that could use attention, however, is the hallway between the elevator and the room; there were several visible stains on the carpet (water? something left behind by a canine guest?) and a noticeable odor which the warm, humid weather did not help.
Breakfast was very nice, with typical meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, and other cold offerings, along with scrambled eggs, sausage, and the best bacon I've had in a long time.
Overall, I think the value was quite good, and I'll definitely keep the Auersperg in mind for my next trip to beautiful and charming Salzburg.
