“Nice hotel but room for improvement”

Hotel Auersperg

Munich, Germany

We spent one night at the Auersperg, and it suited our needs well. The location is a short walk from the old town area (on the opposite side river) and away from the main sites, in a quiet part of town.

The receptionist was a bit harried as we arrived, as apparently quite a few guests had all come to check in at the same time. She was abrupt but nevertheless answered our questions. When we got to our room, none of our keys worked, but another hotel employee quickly came to our rescue. In fact, with the exception of the woman who checked us in, the staff was very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist us.

Our room was quite large, even with the pull-out bed made up. There was no A/C, but a fan was provided. The room had a DVD player, and the hotel offered a list of movies which could be borrowed from the front desk. Everything was clean, bright, and welcoming.

One thing that could use attention, however, is the hallway between the elevator and the room; there were several visible stains on the carpet (water? something left behind by a canine guest?) and a noticeable odor which the warm, humid weather did not help.

Breakfast was very nice, with typical meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, and other cold offerings, along with scrambled eggs, sausage, and the best bacon I've had in a long time.

Overall, I think the value was quite good, and I'll definitely keep the Auersperg in mind for my next trip to beautiful and charming Salzburg.

“Peaceful and relaxing”

Hotel Auersperg

15 Jul 2008

We were going for a long weekends break and saw the hotel on the internet. We asked our travel agent to try and book it for us. I am so glad that they did.

The hotel is family friendly, it is a 10 minute leisurly stroll to the main City centre.

The welcome was warm and friendly, the staff were so welcoming that you felt you had known them for years.

A truly relaxing and peacful hotel with all the facilities that you could want.

I wholeheartedly recommend this to any traveller.

“Perfect Hotel for Us”

We booked this hotel after reading all the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It was the first time we relied on this website and, happily, the hotel was perfect for us. Highlights: clean, modern, quiet and comfortable room with view of the garden and patio, free bikes, which allowed us to go wherever we wanted quickly on all the great bike trails through the city, free parking, quieter location (the city center was mobbed with people late into the night), great breakfast on a lovely patio. The staff was great too. We do not have a single complaint. Great price for what we got, even during high season (probably because it is a little off the beaten path). We would not bother trying out any other hotel if we went back to Salzburg. We hated to leave. Give it a try!

“Excellent Small Hotel Near The Old Town”

Hotel Auersperg

9 Jul 2008

Wonderful Hotel in the most awesomely beautiful city in Europe. My wife and I and our two daughters stayed in the Auerspberg for a week in 2006 and enjoyed our stay there immensely. We had no complaints.

We were in the Villa which is just a few metres down the road from the main part of the Hotel. Probably, next time we would prefer to stay in the main part but only because it is closer to the Hotel's reception and dining areas.

We were on the third floor and had staff assistance in getting our suitcases up the staircase. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable to sleep in.

The staff were at all times helpful and courteous. They organised our Sound of Music Tour and provided helpful tips about Salzburg generally.

Breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety including, for example, different cereals, full cream and low fat milk, bacon, eggs, sausages, different beverages, toast and fresh fruit.

After a hearty breakfast it was a good 10 minute walk to the Old Town (or Alt Stadt in German) which helped with the digestion.

The Hotel has a small bar which provides alcohol and food until 10pm or so.

Would we recommend this Hotel to travelers contemplating a visit to Salzburg? Absolutely/!!

“Great Location”

Hotel Auersperg

4 Jul 2008

The hotel entirely satisfied our requirements for an overnight stay in Salzburg. We were welcomed to the hotel by a very friendly and helpful member of staff and shown to a room which fully met our expectations in terms of size, cleanliness and, very importantly, it was very quiet. As the hotel is situated in the heart of Salzburg, you can leave your car, (parking included), and take to the streets to explore the city. Locating the hotel by car was easy and leaving to exit Salzburg back to the autobahn, similarly was no problem. There was an excellent choice of food for breakfast. We were located in the adjacent annexe building next door and this had no lift. This may pose a problem for some visitors, although a porter was on hand to help with the bags. In summary, on the basis of our limited stay, we would have no hesitation in returning to the Auersperg Hotel or recommending it to other travellers.
