We arived in Salzburg during a heat wave. The owner was nice enough to let us check in early and get a cat nap after flying all night. She was very helpful on suggesting good places to eat and setting up tours and activities. She wanted us to have a good experience. But the heat did not help. We slept with the windows open which we did most of our trip to other locations. But at this hotel, we were on the front of the building over looking the street. The first night there was a party until 4 AM at a night club a block away! Augh! The next night the noise did not settle down until midnight. We would have moved to a different hotel if I had not brought ear plugs that my wife used.
Would we stay there again?
Based on cost, location to tourist sites, friendliness of staff, and good breakfasts - yes.
But demand a room in the back of the building where it is quieter and cooler.

The hotel is a little dated and could use some updating in decor and facilities - our shower had tiles misissing where it attached to the floor but the room was clean and the location was O.K. Just a tip if you are walking there from the station - the map they supply on the internet looks like you take the first left (the first underpass on your left) but you have to take the second. ( If I were to do it again I would take a taxi to the hotel! ) The hotel is near lots of good local restaurants (try the little Greek one a couple of streets away as it was excellent) and it doesn't take very long to get to the touristy part of Salzburg. You can also purchase the "Salzburg" card at the front desk of the hotel which is worth the price as you can go to many popular sites with one card ( it did not cost any extra to buy it at the hotel). Overall, it was not a bad little hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel, as much as we enjoyed the city of Salzburg. Situated across the river from the old/historic part of town, it is well within walking distance to everything. We used Salzburg as a home base to day trip all across Austria. The hotel and the staff were very accommodating. The owners provided helpful advice on recommending dining options, driving in Austria (and across the border to Germany). Service every morning for breakfast was very warm and welcoming, we felt very much "at home" and part of a family during our stay. The rooms were small (like most rooms in europe) but clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were a little small and in need of updating, but nothing to make us reconsider our stay. THe showers were very small (not much room to move - dont drop the soap, it will be hard to bend over and pick it up).

There was a computer in the lobby (no wireless at the time) for use to email. Connection was slow.

We stayed for two nights, at the end of a longer holiday in Austria. The room was immaculately clean - and the staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.
Silvia was absolutely charming and helpful - Giovanni busied himself at breakfast without upsetting anyone.

The negative comments by previous guests have amazed me - and in no way reflect the hotel that we arrived home from this evening.
