My girlfriend and I have just returned from a superb 5 day break in Salzburg. Having not been to Salzburg before, I felt that a hotel in the 'Old Town' would be the best location, therefore when I spotted this hotel on the internet I booked it based on it's location, value and new status - a Super find !! We were allocated a room on the 4th floor with a balcony. There is a sun terrace above. I think that 10 Euro for breakfast is unreasonable, but we ate in the city instead. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
Located beside the Neutor Tunnel, the Star Inn is a 5 minute walk through the tunnel walkway, which brings you out beside the Festival Hall and Horse Pond. The tunnel is safe both day and night, and used by many locals on foot and by bicycle.
The 'Old Town' just unfolds in front of you. All the famous attractions are within minutes of each other. I recommend that you visit the following - 1. Take the elevator up to The Monschberg Terrace, where you get the perfect city view 2. Bus No.25 takes you from the city centre to the Untersberg Mountain where you catch the cable car to the top, the views are amazing 3. Vist the Eagle's Nest with Panorama Tours. We went on a cloudy day but the bus drove up the mountain, through the clouds and we found ourselves gazing across from the Eagle's Nest at the snow capped mountains and the white cloud landscape below - Stunning !!!
Lot's on nice places to eat in the city. Try the Canton restaurant across the street from the hotel, superb value and the food was gorgeous.
There is so much to do in this beautiful city and the Star Inn Hotel is the perfect location to start to your holiday from - Recommended.
