Exceptional value for money (I paid 66 euros via bookings.com). Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. I got lucky and ended up in Room 404, which is the only one with a decent view. It's a 20 minute walk from the centre of town, but only a couple of minutes from the rail and bus station. Perfect if you are carrying heavy bags. I'd stay there anytime and would recommend it highly. Charging 4 euros an hour for internet access is a bit mean and unnecessary these days - but that's a minor quibble.

We stayed in the Mozart suite, spacious and clean, though near the street and a little noisy at first. I really liked having the little "living room" between the bedroom and bathroom, actually. This hotel's location is great, just 2 short blocks from the train, but NOTE: There is NO signage when you leave the station indicating what street you're looking at or which direction to go, so go straight from the main door of the station, forward two blocks, and the hotel is on your right, on the corner. Very comfortable beds, excellent cleanliness, okay shower (not the best in Austria but adequate), and quite decent breakfast. By the way, Mozart suite has a 24-hour "Mozart" television channel AND the 24-hour "Sound of Music" channel, so you won't miss out if you want that. This hotel is a bit of a hike to the Altstadt/downtown, but if your primary aim is to be near the station, and you don't require luxury, stay here. Oh, one minor complaint; the coffee/tea/bottled water in the room is not free, a little annoying, but Salzburg has such good tap water, you won't need it.

well what can i say it was so good everything we wanted for a long weekend stay our room was very spacious, very clean,good location just a nice short walk into the old town. the staff were very friendly and helpful specially Elizabeth. The breakfast i have to say it was one of the best i have ever had it had so many variety for every taste

My husband chose the Salzburger Hof becasue I love the movie 'Sound of Music'. We stayed for three nights in October and had a pretty good time. The location and staff were great but the themed room were a little disappointing.
Good points: The hotel is really close to the train station which was great becasue we had to leave very early for Vienna on the third morning.
The hotel staff really make this hotel - they were wonderful. So helpful and accomodating. Because we had to leave early on the last morning they packed us a breakfast bag for our train trip - very sweet.
The restaurant was really terrific - a little strange (Indian/Italian/Austrian) but really wonderful food.

Not so good points: We were 'upgraded' to the Sound of Music suite which was not really what we had expected from the pictures on the hotels website. Bascially, the theme room just means there are a number of framed stills from the movie on the walls.
The room was not airconditioned and the noise from the traffic in the street was pretty bad.
Location to the main town was OK - 15min walk to the centre which was fine for us.
