My wife and I stayed at the Park Hotel Schonbrunn for eight nights. I was a little aprehensive about the hotel after reading several less than impressive reviews.
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff was very professional and courteous. Being built in 1907 as a guest house for the Schonbrunn palace the hotel is a bit worn but not dirty. Our room was very clean and cleaned thoroughly daily.
The buffet breakfast which was included was a wonderful spread including eggs and sausage along with the typical rolls and juice fare common for Europe.
The hotel is just across the street from the Schonbrunn palace and the zoo. It is only a 10-15 minute subway ride to the city center and museums. The public transportation is excellent and the subway trams arrive usually every five minutes.
I would recommend the Austria Trend Park Hotel Schonbrunn looking for a classy hotel with a historic atmosphere.

Rundown hotel behind schoenbrunn palace. Once upon a time it should have been a real 4* hotel but not anymore. Rooms were probably last renovated during the 80s but they are clean. NOT airconditioned though, so beware if you are visiting during summer. However there is a nice small pool that can chill you out a bit. The staff is friendly but not always efficient, especially when the hotel is fully booked (the case when i was there). . Internet connection is only available to some rooms. The hotel is around 15-17 min from St. Stephan sq. by metro and a 3 min walk from Schoenbrunn main entrance.

I was visiting for business and my firm paid 160 euro for a single room which is ridiculessly expensive for this hotel. I spent a couple of extra days for tourism and fortunatelly moved to Flemings hotel in Westbaknhof for considerably less. Well this is a really 4 star hotel!! Opened in september 2006 and as you can expect very modern and luxurious. Try this one instead

After reading some of the other reviews of this hotel, I was feeling a little anxious about my stay. However, I am delighted to say that my experience was fantastic! Even though the room was basic, it suited my needs - the room was also in the older part of the hotel. The staff were always willing to help, and the barman was a real gentleman as well! It was great that the hotel was only a few mins walk to the underground, so made getting around quite easy. The breakfast was a great spread as well - a feast for a king! I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

This is quite simply the WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed in ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD (and I travel a lot). Do not be fooled by cheap deals, partial updating and the swanky reception area. The hotel has a courtyard area with poorly glazed rooms overlooking it. From 4.30 am deliveries of food, drink etc and rubbish collection take place (you can smell the rubbish). You will not be able to sleep whilst this is happening as it is loud and once it starts the noise just carries on. If you like being woken up at 4.30, being in a noisy room and effectively overlooking a delivery depot, you'll love this. We did not, nor did we like having to go to a different floor to have a shower, nor did we like staying in a room which hadn't been updated since the 70s. The fact is that this hotel group have absolutely no idea how to look after guests or run a hotel. It is a real shame that the Austrian Tourist Board permit them to lose the country its guests and the chance of repeat visits. I can't believe anybody would ever want to return to this place. It's shameful! An embarrassment to Vienna!
